An aura is really the very beginning of a seizure and occurs in a very tiny area of the brain. This spot is called the focus and can occur anywhere on the brain but will correspond with where the seizures come from, often an area that has been injured and has scar tissue. An EEG, properly known as Electroencephalography is the recording of electrical activity in the brain. It can be used on anyone of any age to see how their brain responds to different things. It is one way of detecting abnormalities in brainwave activity that could be a sign of things like epilepsy.

Yes. Many types of seizures can cause visual hallucinations, especially complex partial seizures that are centered in the occipital lobes. The symptoms of low blood sugar mimic those of epilepsy. As the ancients were not familiar with hypoglycemia, but were familiar with epilepsy, they naturally assumed that he was an epileptic.

It could do, but not necessarily. It could depend on how hard you banged your head and also the cause of your seizures.

Epilepsy is a wide-ranging condition, and people have all sorts of levels of it. So some people with epilepsy would be perfectly capable of working on an oil-rig, while some others would not. Each case is different, so it would depend on things like what kind of work they are doing and how serious their epilepsy is.

Nursing interventions for epileptics include:

Maintaining a safe environment for the patient;

Ensuring record keeping is kept up-to-date (i.e seizure charts, care plans);

Ensuring vital signs are taken 4 hourly and after a seizure (i.e should you question Neurological problems after a seizure commence patient on the Glasgow Coma Scale or your own equivalency);

Ensuring the patient takes medication as prescribed

According to the epilepsy website, there is only a 4% chance of epilepsy being passed to the child if only one of the parents have it. The odds are in your favor in that if he has a child it will not be epileptic.

Most any type of physician might order an EEG if they are looking to see how the person's brain is functioning. The specialists that more often order this would be neurologists or neurosurgeons. Internists also would order this to evaluate a person having seizures, or other disorders that might indicate a problem with the brain. It is a relatively inexpensive, non-invasive procedure that would usually be done as a first step in a diagnosis of conditions involving the brain. The specialists usually work more from MRI, CT, PET scans, etc. that are much more expensive but also somewhat more diagnostically helpful.

People can get seizures for all sorts of reasons. Some people who have epilepsy can have it genetically. Most people's epilepsy is not genetic, so most Grand Mal seizures are not genetic.

There is no guarantee you will get anything, but there are a number of things you can try. If the person has been in some rehabilitation, there are often courses that they will provide for their patients. Another possibility is that you could try and contact your local health authorities and ask them if they do anything. Finally your local education authorities may have special courses or grants.

It varies from country to country, here in the USA is the shortest time of only 6 months without a seizure including in your sleep, to be able to drive a vehicle. Primidone is an anticonvulsant, typically used to treat epilepsy. It has no recreational value.

Note that, once on a course of primidone, suddenly discontinuing this may result in a sudden and immediate increase in seizure activity. Reduction of this med should be orchestrated by the prescribing doctor.

It varies from country to country, but here in Norway it used to be a law that said that you had to go 5 years without a seizure, now it's 1 year, before you could get the license.....

If someone is having a seizure they are not fully in control of what they are doing, so it is possible that they will accidentally bite their tongue. It is not a deliberate act and does not happen very often. In the vast majority of seizures, people do not bite their tongue.
