Feral Cats

Free roaming felines, feral cats are the 'wild' offspring of domestic cats, and are primarily the result of pet owners' abandonment or failure to spay and neuter their animals, allowing them to breed uncontrolled. Feral cat 'colonies' can be found in alleys, parks, abandoned buildings, and rural areas. They are elusive and do not trust humans.

Do agree that stray and feral cats are also wildlife?

No. Stray cats, still looking to humans for food and shelter, are domestic animals that are currently away from their homes. Feral cats, who have reverted to wild habits, generally still retain some habits of domestication and may not be suited to life in the wild. (For instance, a Persian who goes stray likely will not be able to care for himself even after he has regained the habits of a hunter; he will be trapped by his over-long fur and hindered by his deformed nasal passages.) As a general rule, animals which humans have domesticated, have been changed enough in their abilities that they no longer qualify as wildlife.

First allow 15 human years for the 1st year of your cat's life, then add 9 years for the 2nd. Add 4 years each year from the third year on out. For example: 1 cat year = 15 human years, 2 cat years= 24 human years, 3 cat years = 28 human years, and 4 cat years = 32 human years and so on.

How do you keep stray cats from urinating on the outside of your house?

Unfortunately, there is mating time and this is usually when cats will spray on everything (also inside the house if you own one and they are not spayed or neutered.) If you go to your pet store they do have a special spray out that you can spray around the perimeter of your home. Other than this, there isn't much else you can do.

I had my female feral spayed and her kittens spayed/neutered via TNR.

Upon returning...Only 2 of 3 kittens stuck around. I haven"t seen the female or the other kitten. Suddenly, the male is showing up again and came by with another male!
I hope my 2 kittens will be ok--they seem afraid of those males & I am worried about what happened to the female & the other kitten.
