Omega has a lot more HP (I think) but you can use a number of items on yourself to make yourself invincible and it is very easy to manipulate limit breaks to get Squall's lionheart over and over. That is not entirely correct. The game play should be exactly the same for both. The reason that the original is worth more is not because it is the original, it is because the original has a misprint on the back cover. I don't have my copy with me nor do I remember which word is incorrect but one letter in a word is superimposed on another and is misaligned. Last I checked an unopened, still plastic wrapped, copy of the game goes for something like $300.
The word that is misprinted is "Masterpiece" The "i" is out of place.

Some tips for Final Fantasy 1:
- Upon reaching a new town stay in the area fighting until you have earned enough money to upgrade your weapons, armor, and spells to what is available. You will also have gained some level-ups making the enemies not seem so difficult. Then it is time to move on to the next area and begin the process again.
- After you have completed the Castle of Ordeals and been promoted to higher job classes be sure to go back to towns from earlier in the game and purchase spells for those characters that can now use them.
- When you acquire the Mystic Key, be sure to go to the Temple of Fiends where you fought Garland and open the two locked treasure rooms there. The two swords therein might be better then what you have equipped, and if not they can be sold for good money.
- A good place to earn money early in the game is inside the Marsh Cave in the chamber where you found the crown. Every time you approach the chest you will have to fight between one and six Mages. They provide good money and experience at that point in the game.
- On the northern tip of the peninsula east of Pravoka is another good place to earn level up. The enemies on the extreme northern tip are from the area around Lefein farther north and aren't meant to be encountered this early in the game. If you manage to defeat them they are worth a lot of experience and money.
