Glad you asked :D No u can not, u have to buy a casting rod with it. it will have small eyes that look almost the same size. The rod will have a trigger on the back and the handle will be about8 inches. On a spinning the rod has no triggers and has large eyes on the bottom and get smaller at the top. Spin cast (closeface) rods are similar to casing but have a smaller handle. You can either go to Walmart, Bass Pro, or use the Internet to buy one. Hope this helps and good fishing :)
