What are common types of Pike lures?
Not including live baits, there are 3 general types of lures used in bass fishing: crankbaits, which are hard plastic or wood, and generally have at least two treble hooks, one hanging from the belly and another from the tail. There are, however, many variations on this. Most have a "lip", that causes the bait to dive. Soft plastics. The typical soft plastic is a worm, but there are lizards, crawfish, helgramites, frogs, even rats. These typically do not come with hooks, but are threaded on to a hook that is already attached to the end of your line. Spinner baits. These have some type of device that rotates, creating flashes of light as well as noise. A "spoon" is kind of like a spinner bait. There are others but this covers the vast majority of lures.

Can you use sardines from a can for fishing bait?
I am going to talk about a few different fishing styles and what types of fishing bait works best for each one.
Carp Fishing
Carp fishing is a little bit different then other types of fishing. The kind of fishing bait that works best with carp fishing is luncheon meat. This includes meats such as turkey, spam, ham and other types of meats.
This type of fishing bait has been used a lot in the past but it still works just as good today as it does back then. An alternative that you can use for carp fishing as well is boilies and pellets.
Walleye Fishing
From my own personal experience I have found that spinners tend to work the best when Walleye fishing. These lures work great at getting the fish's attention and hooking one on your line. In addition to spinners, you can try jigs as well.
A deadly combination is to use a jig and put on a minnow as well. This way you have synthetic bait and live bait mixed together on the same line. I have found that this combination tends to work very well at attracting fish.
Trout Fishing
The best way to go about catching trout is to get some sort of synthetic powerbait and strap that onto your hook. These baits work extremely well when equipped with a gang hook.
Live bait also tends to work very well for trout fishing as well. You will probably need to use a combination of the two in order to get the best results.
So there are a few tips that you can try out when trying to figure out what type of fishing bait to use. Each type of fishing requires that you use different kinds of fishing bait so be sure to experiment often.
I would like to add this if you are fishing for sunfish, panfish, or bluegill, shell crackers, red ears. Ham in small pieces would work just fine to catch these fish. This would not be my first choice in baits for these fish. But if I was on my lunch break while fishing and forgot my baits ham should work just fine.

Common fishing hazards come in two forms (i) water hazzards and (ii) equipment hazzards.
Water Hazzards:
When fishing water saftey is of prime importance. If fishing in a boat always wear a life jacket. Know how to handle your boat and know the water you are fishing. Also beware of currents that could drag you under and the boat off course. Hypothermia is a very real threat in the spring and in the fall. Monitor the weather carefully when fishing.
Equipment hazzards:
The bigges equipment hazzard is getting hooked. When deeply hooked medical treatment may be required because the barbs on the hooks ensure tht the hook will not come out easily. The fishing line (especailly modern braided supper lines) can cut deeply.
Two expereinced fisherman drowned in Montreal this spring when thier canoe capsized when the weather changed suddenly. They were both wearing life jackets but died of hypothermia.

Catching a salmon is just like catching any other fish - you'll need a fishing rod, and a lure, you may need a net once the fish is caught to get it into the boat. I would check with your local fish and wildlife bureau to get more information because you'll need a fishing license to fish salmon anyway.

Nope, but fish would not find it interesting either.
Sorry, but you are wrong with this answer.
Strange as it may sound, fish ARE attracted by the use of WD40 ... it is commonly used on metallic lures (plus other baits), most often in saltwater (though there is no reason it should not be equally effective in fresh water).
Yes, it gives the metallic baits some degree of protection against rusting (which is probably how its use began), but it IS also a fish attractor .. this is well documented on most fishing forums that you may go to:-)
