Carp Fishing

From my own personal experience I have found that spinners tend to work the best when Walleye fishing. These lures work great at getting the fish's attention and hooking one on your line. In addition to spinners, you can try jigs as well.
A deadly combination is to use a jig and put on a minnow as well. This way you have synthetic bait and live bait mixed together on the same line. I have found that this combination tends to work very well at attracting fish.
Trout Fishing
The best way to go about catching trout is to get some sort of synthetic powerbait and strap that onto your hook. These baits work extremely well when equipped with a gang hook.
Live bait also tends to work very well for trout fishing as well. You will probably need to use a combination of the two in order to get the best results.
So there are a few tips that you can try out when trying to figure out what type of fishing bait to use. Each type of fishing requires that you use different kinds of fishing bait so be sure to experiment often.
I would like to add this if you are fishing for sunfish, panfish, or bluegill, shell crackers, red ears. Ham in small pieces would work just fine to catch these fish. This would not be my first choice in baits for these fish. But if I was on my lunch break while fishing and forgot my baits ham should work just fine.

Strange as it may sound, fish ARE attracted by the use of WD40 ... it is commonly used on metallic lures (plus other baits), most often in saltwater (though there is no reason it should not be equally effective in fresh water).
Yes, it gives the metallic baits some degree of protection against rusting (which is probably how its use began), but it IS also a fish attractor .. this is well documented on most fishing forums that you may go to:-)
