Common fishing hazards come in two forms (i) water hazzards and (ii) equipment hazzards.

Water Hazzards:

When fishing water saftey is of prime importance. If fishing in a boat always wear a life jacket. Know how to handle your boat and know the water you are fishing. Also beware of currents that could drag you under and the boat off course. Hypothermia is a very real threat in the spring and in the fall. Monitor the weather carefully when fishing.

Equipment hazzards:

The bigges equipment hazzard is getting hooked. When deeply hooked medical treatment may be required because the barbs on the hooks ensure tht the hook will not come out easily. The fishing line (especailly modern braided supper lines) can cut deeply.

Two expereinced fisherman drowned in Montreal this spring when thier canoe capsized when the weather changed suddenly. They were both wearing life jackets but died of hypothermia.

The largest fish is a Blue Marlin caught out of Hawaii. It was not ever entered as a record for the International Game Fish Association (World governing body for gamefishing) because more than one angler fought the fish. This disqualifies the catch. It weighted 1805 pounds. The largest shark is another issue all together.

Catching a salmon is just like catching any other fish - you'll need a fishing rod, and a lure, you may need a net once the fish is caught to get it into the boat. Salmon can be found both in rivers and in the sea depending on the season, and depending on the area you live in. I would check with your local fish and wildlife bureau to get more information because you'll need a fishing license to fish salmon anyway.

i would go to Minnesota. Minnesota has the ability to produce fantastic fishing for a variety of species such as walleye, small mouth/large mouth bass, pike, musky, crappie, yellow perch, bluegill and bullhead. and most of these are great tasting.
Kentucky, because of Dale Hollow Lake, one of the premier bass lakes in America.

If you release the bait fish into the wild the can become invasive species. The Asian carp is a great example of this.

Strange as it may sound, fish ARE attracted by the use of WD40 ... it is commonly used on metallic lures (plus other baits), most often in saltwater (though there is no reason it should not be equally effective in fresh water).

Yes, it gives the metallic baits some degree of protection against rusting (which is probably how its use began), but it IS also a fish attractor .. this is well documented on most fishing forums that you may go to:-)

It just depends what line captivity your reel has if your reel can hold around 140yards or higher it would be find. If your using braided line go for it . Besides your reel has a 14 pound drag. Fishing reels have drag lbs not set line weight.

Yes you can. But in practice this rod is meant for smaller fish. When fishing you should ideally match your gear to your target species. this will prevent damage to the equipment and damage tot he fish (for example the rod may snap leaving the fish dragging around a broken rod until it dies).

In general a rod capable of handling larger fish should be used when carp fishing.

The fishing season in Ontario depends on the fish you are trying to catch and the area you are trying to fish it. Some species of fish have specific seasons and others are open all year.

For species specific fishing seasons consult the Ontario regulations for the zone you live in.

1. This state has conservation programs to preserve wildlife habitat so that hunters can continue to hunt game here.

2. These conservation programs are paid for partially by taxes.

3. Non-residents can get hunting licenses and hunt here, but they don't pay taxes.

4. We should increase the cost of their hunting licenses to make up for them not paying taxes.

The state of Arkansas does not require you to have a "hunter education card" (which you need to get a game license [or tag]) until you are 16 years of age.

Under 16 years of age you are required to hunt under the supervision of a hunter who is at least 21 years of age and holds the hunter education card.

Live minnows work best, but many are taken on the various type of jigs, made for this species, that imitate minnows.

You can make it as simple or as complicated as you wish:-) I'm in the UK, so am able to fish around the Med several times each year, as a part of vacation trips, and the methods vary very little from country to country. If you are in an urban centre / city, it is possible / probable that you will be able to take part in organised fishing trips on board a boat, which can be anything from dangling a line overboard to big-game fishing. Most fishing probably takes place from shores / breakwaters, in harbours etc ... and remember, tides are not really an issue in the Med, as for all intents and purposes, they do not exist!:-) Fishing methods can range from the lightest rod that you own, with a naural bait (virtually anythiung edible!), to a powerful rod capable of casting 5 ounces (160grams) well over 150 yards / metres .. or anything in between, including the full range of lure / baitcasting rods. It REALLY is that flexible .. take what you have and simply enjoy yourself .. like the world over, you'll find that anglers talk to each other:-)

Mackerel are normally caught by using a net. An alternative to using a net is a sabiki rig on a light weight rod with 6 lb to 12 lb test line, which originated in Japan and consist of a line with 4 to 6 small hooks dressed up with bright colored skirts of some sort of reflectant material. Sabiki rigs could be purchased at most sporting goods stores and tackle shops. This is a great way to catch mackerel and sardine off piers and docks. For best results when fishing off piers and docks is to cast it using 1/2 oz to 2 oz depending on currents and retrieve it slowly giving your rod two quick jerks and winding twice alternating. Mackerel is great bait fish for bigger sport fish such as Lincod and Wahoo.
