Where do you find equatorial forests in Indonesia?

Soroako, Indonesia 1973.

Hello my name is Bobby Ray Martin, I actually lived in the rain forest or as it seemed to me the jungle for about 18 months in 1973, 74, & early 75. I was mearly 13 years old when my folks, God rest their beautiful soles, dragged me kicking, screaming, and possibly cursing to the other side of the world. Could have been the moon for all i cared back then. If i was there 18 months i bet i griped 17 months 29 days about what was being taken away from me. I had just tasted my girlfriends tongue about a week before we left the states and would have sworn in a court of law that i was being punnished for something. However looking back today to my past that was by far the most cherrished time in my 50 years (so far) on this earth. i had every exotic animal known to man, my mother had a maid and gardener at her dissposal and pretty much left the gardener in my charge. During my stay and at 14 years of age, i lost my virginity to a beautiful 18 year old young woman from Australia, i learned to water ski, smoke weed and be pretty independent when i returned to California at age 15. the first time my mom and i walked through the native village that we lived about 2000 feet from the huts emptied and they were all pulling lightly at my hair and pinching my skin, come to find out they had never seen a person with blonde hair or blue eyes until i arrived. They treated me very very very well and it turned out to be a total honor and privilege to live among them, primative to the extreme level, all the while they showed me much more about loving your fellow man and respect than i ever could have imagined. im gonna have to look up equatorial forest unless it just means forest near the equator. it was gorgeous and picturesque every where you looked. rained almost 200 inches in one twelve month period and i bet it never ever got below 70 degrees the whole time there. water skiing in 80 to 85 degree weather while the skies just poured inches of rain down in a matter of twenty to thirty minutes time, then as quickly as it began it stopped and the sun would shine the remainder of the day. sorry to bore anyone but that is but a microscopic account of my time spent there. to many cherrished memories to list here so if u have any questions for me send them to bobbyrmartin@clear.net i will do my very best to answer any and all as quickly as possible.

PEACE

What kind of plants do not thrive in dry forests?

Plants that need ample water and those without adaptations would not thrive in dry forests.

To survive in a dry forests, plants must have the adaptation of deciduousness, dropping its leaves once the rains end, which halts photosynthesis which produces water losses which causes the plant not to survive in the dry season. Some plants have other adaptations, such as green bark, which allows photosynthesis to continue even when the leaves have been dropped, and others have water storage tissues that allow them to survive during the dry season by drawing on the stored water. Others have an extra, waxy layer on their leaves that slows water evaporation, and others close their leaves at night which slows water loss.
