What would happen if the rain forest were destroyed?

Many animals wouldn't have anywhere to live and would sadly die. The rain forest as it name states is mostly characterised by heavy rainfall.

If this rainforest is destroyed, there are just so many terrible things and catastrophes one would not imagine. The rainforest due to its heavy rainfall, has an unlimited varieties of plants and animals. This is because like we all know, the heavy rain improves on the soil fertility, creates passages in the soil for easy infiltration of chemicals into the soil so plants grow in a vast manner that's why it is also characterised by an evergreen forest. Evergreen in the sense that it is round the year green.

This same Rainforest with its variety of animals species gives it a huge and unlimited supply of carbon dioxide for its plants during photosynthesis and vice versa. Can we then imagine if these things where not there what would happen to this forest. The animals, when dead, provide fertilizer to the soil after haven been decomposed by the unlimited variety of micro organisms too.

Let's say this forest was destroyed by whatever means unknown:

The plants will be cut down and the evergreen nature will become ever brown meaning, the soils will remain naked in term of biology, the micro organisms will die of hunger because they have nothing to feed on,the animals will become extinct since they do not have a habitat nor food to eat excluding the Carnivores who will eat on the herbivores and the herbivores will feed on nothing so they will finally be greatly endangered.

The climate on its part will be polluted greatly with the huge carbon dioxide from the animals since there are no trees to use the carbon dioxide and during burning if in case the destruction was catalysed by burning hence, Global warming. This same climate will be deprived of rain because rain doesn't only fall but need a cyclic pathway which is transpiration from trees, evaporation from the soil and respiration from animals and guess what happens if these sources are not there.

How much wood would a woodcutter cut if a woodcutter could cut wood?

The biggest four factors affecting how much wood a woodcutter could cut are:

  1. the woodcutter's strength and stamina
  2. how much timber is near enough to make cutting and moving it worthwhile for the effort
  3. the season and the weather conditions
  4. does he own land with enough trees suitable to be cut and suitable for burning or building

In addition, today, a woodcutter might be limited for how much timber he can cut IF:

  1. he can only cut in State or Federally owned lands / forests
  2. if he needs a permit to cut on State or Federally owned lands
  3. how much the permit costs
  4. if the State or Federal government sets limits on how much he can cut
  5. if someone else owns the land and sets conditions on what the woodcutter can do on the land
