An interesting attempt to recreate the GSD in Communist China, but with the square, leggier structure of the very early GSD. They can show a tendency to weediness. We live with an Akita/Shepherd " Hybrid ". I have researched the " mix " extensively. Opinions vary greatly. One hardcore dog fanatic likened breeders who intentionally

mix the two breeds, as irresponsible, saying that there were enough unwanted " mutts "

in the world. I happen to love mutts and believe, that mixes are usually healthier animals,

less subject to inbred predispositions to health problems.

I have also read that some people refer to the Akita/Shepherd mix as a highly desirable

" Designer Breed ", and considered them to be a status symbol. I lean towards this opinion.

Bare in mind that we LOVE this animal, as do just about everyone who meets him.

Historically, the original Akitas were mixed with other breeds to begin with. Great Danes

were one of the breeds that the Japanese mixed them with. I noticed Dane traits before I was privy to that info.

In summary, call Akita/Shepherd a mix, a mutt, a hybrid, or a designer breed. Or you could call it what my Vet called him.....A GREAT DOG.

Depends on the bull dog breed you are thinking about. There are bull dogs with problems in the snout and walking. Those bull dogs have no use but being a mascot. A true bull dog is stronger than a Shepperd.

From my experience most German Shepards are skinny specially ones with a mix breed but if this isn't your answer check a website about animal breeds and their health it should help more than this site by being faster.

Separate the mom and the babies for numerous hours (maybe 3 starting out) then put them back together. Later on (2 weeks) start separating them for 8 hours. About 2 weeks later take them away from their mommy overnight and see how they do If they whine alot, put them back together and start from the 8 hour mark. Once they stop whining, they are weened.

Not exactly. A K9 is a dog specially trained to do police work. Some K9s are German Shepherds, but some are Malinois or other breeds. And most German Shepherds are pets, not K9s.

My German Shepherd likes to eat high quality food that is high in meat content and low in grain. You may be able to get this in super markets but may have better luck in pet stores. A long haired dog is quite simply a long haired dog (or Dog with long hair). Last time I checked there were no special names for long haired dogs but of course there are lots of breeds of long haired dogs. Hope this helped :)
