Some Disadvantages Are…
•The heat it takes to melt the glue might harm the item being glued
•Hot glue can't take much weight and the bond and often breaks
It's known that as far back as 3,000 years the Egyptians used animal glues for furniture and similar things. Around the mid 1700's fish bones were made into wood glue in Britain and in Holland.
You can't: unless they're very thick, most tiles will just break. The best you can do is use a thick base layer of new adhesive to cope with the irregularity of the old adhesive.
Depends on what you are gluing. For a flexible material, urethane adhesives are a good bet. For thermoplastics and metals, thermal welding (or solvent welding, for plastics) is preferrable. Don't forget that there are many grades of epoxy, and some are many, many times stronger in bond strength than hardware-store types.

How do you remove adhesive used to put paneling over congoleum on a basement wall?
I think the best way to do this would be to employ a sand blaster. It's no doubt messy but with care will be the quickest way to remove the adhesive. There will be massive damage to the congoleum (why is this on the wall and not the floor). Consider removing the congoleum with the offending adhesive and then going forward with your redesign. Perhaps when all is said and done you might just wish to fix new drywall to the congoleum using some 2x4 or 2x2 . This would allow you to add increased insulation behind your handywork. Never a bad idea in a below ground basement.

How do you manufacture Urea Formaldehyde glue?
You buy the UF powder or granules and mix it with water.
There are quite a few possibilities for this. Most likely in my opinion is engineer Paul Cope who worked for Proctor and Gamble in the 1940's. George Schultz invented a type of industrial glue gun but much later.
