Godzilla is loosely based upon several dinosaurs ; the filmmakers settled on a dinosaur-like monster that was a cross of a Tyrannosaurus rex , an Iguanodon , a Stegosaurus and a fire-breathing dragon .

After the incredible success of the first film "Gojira" , and the less successful sequel "Godzilla Raids Again" Toho shelved the Godzilla films for a period of seven years. Then resurrected the King for "King Kong Vs. Godzilla," "Godzilla Vs. the Thing," "Ghidrah the Three Headed Monster" and others all the way up to "Destroy All Monsters". After the making of "Godzilla's Revenge" the series went downhill from there, culminating in disasters such as "Godzilla vs the Smog Monster" and "Godzilla Vs. Megalon". "Godzilla Vs. Mechagodzilla" and "Terror of Mechagodzilla" were last ditch efforts to revive the series, but the damage had already been done. So... The earth began to quake again in "Godzilla 1985" after a long period of silence (about nine years) The new series brought the total of installments to 22 films from Godzilla to "Godzilla Vs. Destroyer". The Americanized version was such a flop that the author believes that it actually SHORTENED the hiatus the King of Monsters was on, and hence Godzilla came back in "Godzilla 2000" with a sleek new design. From Godzilla 2000 all the way to Godzilla Final Wars, which did only moderate profit, brought the series to its 50 year mark with a total of 28 films. Which is a lot when you think about it. It is actually the longest running series in cinematic history. So, when Toho decides to get off their collective behinds you can bet the house they will bring back Godzilla.

Godzilla is just a translation from Gojira(Godzilla in Japanese).There is a rumor though that the guy who thought "Gojira"up (when I use Gojira throught this,the quotation marks will mean that I'm refering to the movie Gojira) was nicknamed Gojira, a cross beatween Gorilla (gorira) and a whale (kujira) and crossed them, and he loved the nickname, and named the monster that. A crue member who helped maked the film remembers people rallying names for the monster.

They already made a King Kong vs Godzilla film...It was the third Godzilla film. King Kong "won" even though it is debatable but according to the makers, it was intended for King Kong to win

Nothing can be truly overrated. True objectivity is impossible. The closest we can come is inter-subjectivity which means that a majority of a group of people think that something is overrated (although, anyone can disagree).

With that being said, I think that the real question is - do you think that Godzilla is overrated? It's really all subjective. There is no right or wrong answer to this question.

No. But there is another American remake coming out in 2012 that will hopefully be faithful to the character of Godzilla by being actually Godzilla.

You see, Mothra is insanely in love with Godzilla. The only reasons she may have a battle with Godzilla is to settle him down to be calm. Most of the time, she has temed up with him most on the movies. She won't tell Godzilla because she is afraid it may ruin her friendship with him. This goes for Godzilla too. Godzilla is also in love with Mothra in almost everything! (Monster Island Buddies episode 34). Until one day they will admit their feeling and have love and know what it is like!

In Japan it was called, Gojira(Gojira is Godzilla in Japanese). In the U.S. it was called, Godzilla King of the Monsters.

In actuality Godzilla has died twice during his long lasting movie career. The first time was in the original Japanese movie (Gojira)(1954). The gizmo that killed the "King of the Monsters" was a device called "The Oxygen Destroyer" which took the oxygen out of sea water. When set off at Godzilla's feet the result was all of the monsters flesh being eaten away leaving just his skeleton.

The second time, as mentioned above, was in the movie "Godzilla vs Destroyah" (1995)(Destroyah being a monster spawned from the use of the Oxygen Destroyer). This time around it was Godzilla's own radioactivity that got the best of him and he actually had a melt down ... really, just like a nuclear power plant meltdown.

As far as I remember Kiryu wasn't in DAMM....he/it first appeared in Godzilla: Save the Earth (the sequel)
