This depends on your personality. If your very active and like to go running or jogging, a golden retriever, shihtzus get tired and have to be carried( I know from expirience.) They're both very loving and loyal. Shihtzus will lay on your lap and sleep FOREVER ;) also they dont shed, but you do need to clean their eyes. GR shed ALOT .

Nobody knows at all they are just like us humans different personalities but in my days of breeding and training dogs I observed every Male and every Female after and before the puppies and there is one big and I mean BIG trait of the Yorkie... Yappy and another trait Beautiful but that is MY opinion everyone has different opinions just depends on what type of person you are.

Once a month, only if needed. Use a puppy shampoo. Too much bathing strips the natural oils from the skin. Brush often, and it will help keep him/her clean longer. You can also use pet cleaning wipes from pet stores for spot cleaning.

Retrievers come in a variety of hair types and thicknesses. Regionally judges differ in what they like as well. We prefer the less hair types as they are easier to care for. A working Golden will have less hair because it gets less burrs etc from the fields. A show Golden can have more and longer hair because it does not work but is for --show. Requires daily brushing and more baths.

All dogs shed if they have fur. Goldens may shed a bit more because they have longer fur but don't let that put you off - they're amazing dogs!
