7 month golden retrievers weigh about 95 pounds. i know because i have a golden retriever he is a year old now but when he was 7 months he wieghed that much. and most retrievers i know that are 7 months weigh that much. so i say 95 pounds

Retrievers tend to be prone to yeast and fungal infections in their ears. This is due to their ears being long and covering their ear canal. It creates a warm moist environment. Our vet gives us preventative drops. We put a few drops in a couple of days a week, and he does fine.

I have been a dog groomer for over 20 years and have shaved many golden retrievers. There is a risk though of changing their coat, it could grow back thicker and it might not grow back in at all. It is not possible to determine ahead of time and it seems the shorter you shaved double coated dogs, and the more often you shave them the greater the chance of changing the coat. That being said, if your dog swims all the time and has hot spots and problems from staying wet all the time it may be worth the risk to you. I have many clients who are aware of the risk and chose to shave them anyway.

Rescue Remedy is not necessarily the best choice for helping a dog with storm or sound phobias. You would probably see better results from melatonin or an anti-anxiety medication prescribed by a vet.

You NEVER EVER for NEVER EVER want to cut your Golden Retriever's hair. Or any dog for that matter. They have their hair for a reason. They will shed, pant, and lay down in the shade to stay cool. But never cut a dogs hair. Remember that.

All 13-week-old golden retrievers are naturally fluffy unless they are shaved, I recommend not shaving your puppy because the fluff makes it so cute!

Actually, I have owned both an American and British golden. Both are very loving animals, with slight differences in look.


American Golden Retrievers tend to be slightly larger and darker in color. They range from a golden color to a light brown.


British Golden Retrievers are smaller, but not by much. They are often pale pale yellow/gold or white.
