How do you get Earth Walker on Wizard101 for free?

User Avatar
You can either purchase it for 10,280 crowns from Gisele Moonbow, or try to get it as a drop from Tumok Gravelbeard in Dragon's Maw or the Earth Elemental which is a boss you can summon by activating the crystal in front of the Colossus statue in the Plaza of Conquests.
Asked in Area, Google Earth

Is it possible to measure area using Google Earth?

User Avatar
Yes. Google Earth Professional also allows you measure area, but it is expensive. Alternatively you can use the free version of Google Earth, mark the area to be measured as a path. Then save it as a kml file. Programs like EasyAcreage can then read these kml files and calculate the acreage for you. This method is remarkably accurate. See a case study where the accuracy of this method was used to measure the size of a tennis court. The KML Tools Project and Zonums area tool (in links below) is an easy way to measure area online.

How do you search location using coordinates in Google Earth?

User Avatar
In the search/fly-to panel in addition to addresses you can enter latitude/longitude coordinates to fly-to that location but it must be one of the supported formats: 1. Latitude, Longitude in decimal format: e.g., 37.7, -122.2 Note that such coodinates must appear in this order (latitude, longitude). 2. Latitude, Longitude in DMS format: 37 25'19.07"N, 122 05'06.24"W or 37 25 19.07 N, 122 05 06.24 W Note that format 37d25'19.07"N, 122d05'06.24"W does NOT work with Google Earth. Sometimes the lookup gets confused so in that case try adding "loc:" before the coordinates such as in: loc: 37° 25′ 19″ N, 122° 05′ 06″ W In most cases you can use the same query search in Google Earth as you use in Google Maps.

How often does Google update their satellite and street view maps?

User Avatar
Satellite and aerial imagery Satellite and aerial imagery are being collected and processed continuously but it takes months of post processing before new imagery is available online in Google Earth and Google Maps, which is main reason why you usually do not find any imagery younger than about 6 months from Google and why bulk updates only happen about once every 2-3 weeks.. A lot of the imagery comes from aerial photographers mostly in airplanes with special high resolution cameras. Some of the imagery even comes from kites and balloons. Google acquires imagery from a variety of providers. Newer imagery is sometimes available in 'Historical Imagery', which can be enabled from the View menu. So for example, the "default" imagery in a given area could be from 2008 while 2010 imagery is available under 'Historical Imagery'. Google tries to make available the "best" imagery, which may not be the latest. Street View Imagery Street view photos are updated on ongoing basis but plan is to include more and more cities than keep any given city's photos current. More cities are added every day. See related links for more details.

What website has the best satellite map?

User Avatar
"Best" is subjective and depends on your needs: do you need highest resolution satellite imagery or the most recent. Google Maps and Bing Maps are two websites that try to maintain a balance between having high resolution and up-to-date imagery.
Asked in Google Earth

Is Google Earth real-time?

User Avatar
The aerial, satellite, and StreetView imagery in Google Earth is not real-time (or live). In fact, the imagery is on average 1-3 years old. However, Google is making some layers such as traffic and weather available near real-time and refreshed every few hours. There is also a new webcam layer integrated into Google Earth that can show "live" scenes at selected locations. Also, there are third party data feeds such as real-time flight tracking available so over time more and more data are showing up in Google Earth and Google Maps.

How could you use Google Earth?

User Avatar
Here are seven things you can do with Google Earth: View an image of your home, school or any place on Earth - Click Fly To and enter an address and/or city name. Hit Enter and Google Earth flies you to this location. Tour the world - In the Places panel, open the 'Sightseeing Tour' or 'Learn and Explore' folder and double click 'Start tour here'. Get driving directions from one place to another and fly (follow) the route. Select 'To Here' or 'From Here' links from any Placemark on the map. View historical imagery for your favorite locations - Enable 'Historical Imagery' option in View menu. Then use the time slider to change the time to view the recent history of that location at that time period. View 3D terrain - This is more fun with hilly or mountainous terrain, such as the Grand Canyon or Mount Everest. When the view shows the location, use the zoom slider to tilt the terrain. Simply use Up/down arrows while pressing shift-key to tilt. Explore shipwrecks around the world. Enable the Ocean > Shipwrecks layer in layers Panels and ship icons appear in the ocean at site of many shipwrecks. Also suggest the '3D Buildings' layer is also checked since some shipwrecks have 3D models associated with them (e.g. HMS Titanic). Explore Mars or the Moon. Click the "planet" button (looks like Saturn) on the toolbar and select Mars or Moon or you can select View / Explore from the main menu. Google Earth teleports you to your selection from which you can check out the NASA Mars or lunar landings. If unable to perform any of these steps or some steps are unfamiliar then check out the Google Earth User Guide, which is packed full of short videos and tutorials to walk through the features of Google Earth from the basics to some advanced topics. There are many other things you can do with Google Earth. See Google Showcase or Google Gallery to view samples of other things you can see and do in Google Earth...
Asked in Google Earth

Is everything on Google Earth real?

User Avatar
Google provides access to large amount of aerial and satellite photography from across the globe through Google Earth and Google Maps. The map imagery is not simulated nor computer generated so the data you see is "real" as-is the traffic and weather layers that Google provides. That does not mean all KML content found on the Internet is "real" or accurate data. The data is as good as the source.
Asked in Sharks, Google Earth

Is it possible to find a shark on Google Earth?

User Avatar
It's not very likely but even a swimming shark was caught in satellite imagery found in Google Earth. One such instance was found in images taken for Google Earth on Australia Day in 2007. You can find shark-related content in some of Google provided layers and in the Google Earth Gallery. Check out the Ocean layer in Google Earth, which includes National Geographic, Cousteau Ocean World, and Animal Tracking. This layer may include a geo-registered photo or video clip of sharks. For example, the Animal Tracking layer under Ocean layer includes tracking of Great White sharks.

How do you find a picture of your house?

User Avatar
I would suggest a realtor, city or county building permits, beaurau of land management. Depends on how old the house is and at what period you are looking for a photo of the house. Is the house relatively new and you want a photo from say 20 years ago or is the house really old and you want a picture from the late 1890's. You might start by calling those areas Iisted and try a good library. Hope this gets you on your way. You may wish to research the chain of ownership of your house at the county courthouse, and try contacting previous owners. Most people seem helpful and co-operative.
Asked in Educators, Child Development, Google Earth

Why is it important for teachers to have strong understanding of children and there development?

User Avatar
so that the teacher can interact with a student as an individual and not just as another student in their class. it helps the student feel more comfortable to talk to the teacher that way. it also helps to know this so you have a better understanding how to teach a specific subject to where the student will understand it at their age level.
Asked in Google Earth, The Difference Between, Google Maps

What is the difference between Google maps and Google earth?

User Avatar
Google Earth is a 3D earth viewer (run as desktop application) and Google Maps is a web browser-based 2-D map viewer. Both share the same Google global imagery database with satellite and aerial imagery including Street View photographs. Google Maps is now integrated with Google Earth both with the web-browser plugin version of Google Earth embedded in the browser with the 'Earth' view button. Likewise as of Google Earth 6.0 in the File menu you can now select 'View in Google Maps'. This new integration blurs the line between the two products.
Asked in Google Earth

When was the latest Google Earth imagery taken?

User Avatar
The images in Google Earth (and Google Maps) are updated on a continuous basis typically every 2-3 weeks. Street View imagery has its own update schedule and bulk updates are made on a less regular basis. But note that both the aerial and satellite map imagery and street view imagery are updated for given regions and not globally so one area may be rather recent (usually not newer than 6 months) while another is 3 years old. See related link below for a recent article on high resolution satellite imagery updates in dozens of countries along with a link to a KML file showing the locations of the latest updates in Google Earth.

Why won't Google Earth show up on your computer?

User Avatar
Assuming you installed Google Earth there are some situations where the desktop short-cut disappears. In that case you have to re-create the desktop short-cut either manually or using a small utility app that Google created to fix this problem. If you're unable to install Google Earth and verified your machine meets the minimum requirements then there are some workarounds to successfully install Google Earth including removing the disk cache used by Google Earth, uninstalling the previous version, and running Microsoft Windows Cleanup Utility.
Asked in Google Earth

Why won't Google Earth work?

User Avatar
If Google Earth fails to run, crashes, etc. then the first thing to do is visit the Google Support web site and check out the 'Fix My Problem' web page for Google Earth. Google provides help for each operating systems (Windows, Mac, and Linux) and gives help specific to that platform. If all else fails download and install the latest Google Earth software. Note that uninstalling and reinstalling does NOT overwrite your saved places.

When will Google Street View be updated next?

User Avatar
Google doesn't provide advance notice when it will update an area but it now shows a list of cities by country where the Google vehicles are currently driving. However, there are "unofficial" plans for new countries considered for Street View photography listed in wikipedia including parts of South America and eastern Europe. In June 2011 Google made the largest update to Street View imagery to-date which updated/added to 13 countries that already had some degree of Street View imagery, including Denmark, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Romania, South Africa, Taiwan, Japan, the United States, and the United Kingdom. See links in related links section for details.

How do you search a place in Google Earth?

User Avatar
Google Earth has a search/fly-to option allowing you to type in a specific address, partial address, or just a city name, zip code, airport code, or country to search. You can also enter an explicit latitude, longitude coordinate (e.g. 37.78, -122.4) with latitude first. If location is not where you expect (happens sometimes) then prefix the coordinate with "loc:" (e.g. loc: 37.78, -122.4) and enter this into Google Earth's Search/Fly-to input field. If the search option is not showing then you might have to enable the Sidebar panel in the View menu. As with Google Maps you can also do advanced searches such as 'restaurants near times square' or 'hotels near 747 Howard Street, San Francisco, CA 94103'. You can also get directions.
Asked in Google Earth

Where can you get up to date satellite maps?

User Avatar
Google Earth and Google Maps provide interactive access to satellite imagery that are often less than 3 years old. For special events or natural disasters (e.g. Haiti earthquake) Google has made new satellite imagery available in matter of days or weeks. If you want more up-to-date imagery then you might want to check the imagery providers directly (e.g. GeoEye, DigitalGlobe, etc.).

What is Google Earth Street View?

User Avatar
Street View provides users 360° horizontal and 290° vertical panoramic street level views within Google Maps and Google Earth. Google collects these photographs using special cameras and equipment that capture and match images to a specific location using GPS devices. Once the images are captured, they are "sewn" together to create a 360° panorama. Faces and license plates are blurred before the panorama images are served and become viewable online. Details and history of Street View can be found in the related links below.
