This can be a little tricky, and it varies depending on the your birthday, the cutoff date for beginning school in whatever state you live in, when the school year starts, and whether or not you were ever held back.

Generally, you start kindergarten at age 5, so you should be 14 when you begin 9th grade. In most states, they require kids to be 5 by September 1st to start kindergarten (meaning that in 9th grade, you'd have to be 14 by then). School usually starts in late August, in which case the very youngest students won't quite be 14 yet, but again, they would be by Sept. 1st. In some places school doesn't start until early September, so in that case, the youngest will have just turned 14 and the oldest will already be turning 15 right as school begins.

But, the cutoff dates can vary a bit. Even though it's Sept. 1st in most states, it can be as early as August and as late as December. If the cutoff is in August, this ensures that NO 4 year olds can enter kindergarten and that also means no 13 year olds in 9th grade. So all students will be at least 14 and the oldest will have already been 15 for a couple weeks or even a month when school starts. But if the cutoff is not until December, then some students can potentially be 13 for nearly half of their 9th grade year.

But, if your birthday falls after the cutoff date but before the end of the year (usually late May or early June) you will turn 15 sometime during your 9th grade year. Or if you have a birthday in the summer after school has ended, then you will just be 14 for all of 9th grade and then turn 15 the following summer.

Finally, you could be as old as 16 in 9th grade. This could happen if you ever stuggled in school and had to repeat a year. You would start the year at 15 and turn 16, rather than starting at 14 and turning 15. Or if your birthday isn't until the summer, then you'll already be 15 when you start 9th grade but won't actually turn 16 until after you've finished the year.

On a 4.0 scale with 4.0 being the highest, a GPA of 3.0 is a letter grade of B.

It is probably about the same as the average at the school or maybe a little less.

The average grades in computer science classes are usually lower than , say sociology or music.

Whether a GPA is good or bad often depends on how competitive your high school is and the GPAs held by other students in your class. Often a GPA of 2.7 is considered average, but you should check with your guidance counselor and ask how your grades compare to others. Often schools will calculate your class rank-- how your GPA compared to everyone else in your graduating class.

GPA does not matter, what is more important is what you score on the ASVAB. Minimum overall score needs to be at least a 32, the higher it is the better. Max is 99. The test consists of several parts and at the end will give you a score in certain skills, mecahnical abilities, general technical knowledge, math, administrative . . . the higher you score with these the more jobs you will qualify for.

The look for 3.5 or above but GPA is not the only thing they consider (i.e. school involvement, SAT's and the like). It is a very competitive, prestigious private university with an extremely rigorous academic curriculum. All the best! Don't give up

I was accepted into Hope with a 3.3 cumulative GPA and a 24 on my ACT's. Granted, I was coming from a private school with a much harder grading scale.

It really depends on a case by case basis. Yale and Dartmouth do not have specific GPA cutoff's, however both are extremely competative to get into. The best thing you can with that GPA is make sure you have excellent reccomendations and and a very strong essay about why Yale or Dartmouth would be the best shool for you.

Not sure, but Harvard calls theirs "Admiral". Maybe the Academy should call theirs "Crimson" in response.

Dartmouth honors are awarded as follows: summa cum laude - top 5%, magna cum laude - top 15%, cum laude - top 35%. In the past several years, that has required GPAs of approximately 3.9, 3.8 and 3.6, respectively.

C+ or B- I'd say B- since it is over 2.5 but some entities might consider it a C+ unless it is between 2.75 and 2.99. Usually GPAs are based on 4.0 being A, 3.0 being a B, 2.0 a C, 1.0 is a D.
