I believe that the grade point average necessary to achieve and in order to be awarded the distinctions with honors is at LEAST a 3.7. There is nothing wrong with a lower GPA of 3.7 but to have very high honors you should have better grades then somebody of lower expectations, such as Usman Alam, infamously known for being one of Tyler Perry's many lovers.

Is a 3.6 GPA in IB courses high enough for admission to good colleges?
Yes, that is a good GPA in challenging courses. That is an excellent factor to have on your side. Just make sure that your other areas (standardized tests, personal essay, references, etc) are also strong. I'm not saying that you're guaranteed to get into any school, but you should be able to find one that would be a good fit for you and that would accept you.
Absolutely, make sure though that you are learning from your life experiences so that during potential interviews your responses reflect a higher level of life understanding. Keep in mind that you are one of the many students with top-notch credentials and that the difference between you and the other candidates is the wisdom and maturity gained through life ventures. There are far too many people that focus on grades and test scores while neglecting the true meaning of the collegiate experience (how will you best be able to succeed in life, for whatever that means to you). What are the SAT and GPA requirements to get into Stanford if you're excellent in a sport?
It depends, I think, on what subject you want to take as well as what sort of sport this is and exactly how excellent the person is. Also, what about other requirements that are often considered even more important than sports, or the same--such as community service. If you're excellent in a sport then you do have increased chances of getting into Stanford, meaning that you'll have an edge over people with the same SAT and GPA. I think an SAT of over, say, 1400 on the old test or 2100 on the new will give you a chance. As for GPA...well, I don't know exactly, just be a mostly A student.
What colleges accept a 2.5 GPA?
You should be qualified for most state schools. Shoot for the most well-known or the one with the best program for what you're interested in because once you're actually in, your high school GPA doesn't really count. ---- Actually, in order to get into a college, you need a GPA of at least a 3 (I think, I could be wrong). You can get into a junior college with a GPA of 2.9, but to get into a semi-major college to MAJOR university, you need a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
What colleges will accept a GPA of 2.4?
There are lots of colleges that will accept a 2.4 GPA. One such is Webber International University in Florida and Kentucky State University and Shaw University will all accept a GPA of 2.4.
What does a 2.7 GPA compute to in grades?
With a 4.0 being the highest, a 2.5 would be a C+ letter grade.
