What is the national ranking of the University of Phoenix?

In 2009, the University of Phoenix was ranked #28 out of 44 ranked Colleges and Universities that offer online degree programs by OEDb.

Also, the University of Phoenix is ranked #63 in the World ''[*based on popularity of its name in search engines only] ...''surpassing many state universities in the US, Canada, etc.. please be advised that according to this list (2010), Harvard University is ranked # 42...so you be the judge on how far this fine and respected university came along since its inception in late 70s....Kudos UoP

[''Note that this website and its rankings only looks at how often a university's name appears through search engine metrics - not at all about its academic qualities]''

FYI, the above poster's link to "rankings" is a site that only ranks ''popularity'' of various universities' names through search engine statistics! The site specifically says:

"The aim of this website is to provide an approximate popularity ranking of world Universities and Colleges based upon the popularity of their websites. ...

We do not claim - by any means - to rank organisations or their programs, by the quality of education or level of services provided."

Basically these rankings mean nothing other than how often searched for them on Google. I've got nothing against Univ. of Phoenix, but just want to make sure no one is misconceived by the above (unclear) post.

Here is an international ranking:

Is less than a 4.0 GPA enough to get you into an Ivy League school?

The idea that you need a perfect GPA to get into an Ivy League school is one of the biggest myths when it comes to college admissions.

Of course the Ivy League is looking for the best of the best of the best students. But GPA is not the only thing those schools are looking for. There are MANY students with perfect GPAs getting rejected from Harvard, Brown, Yale, etc every year. And there are also many students getting INTO those programs who have GPAs below a 4.0.

The Ivy League schools want more than just a perfect GPA and a perfect SAT/ACT score. They want students who challenge themselves, and students who engage in the world around them (outside of the classroom!) What does that mean?

Well, for one, it means that you should not choose all the easiest classes in school in order to maintain a 4.0 GPA. The Ivy League schools are going to recognize that instantly, and it won't do you aaaany favors.

At the same time, if you are taking all Honors/AP courses and spending 100% of your time studying in order to get perfect grades, that's not going to help either.

What you want to do is mix things up. Take those challenging courses AND get involved in activities OUTSIDE of school. That can be sports, it can be volunteering, it can be an instrument, it can be... anything! Find something you love and get involved. And don't do it just for the sake of your apps. Schools can tell that, too! Do it because you love it, because you enjoy doing it, because it is your passion and you get excited about it. When you go about it that way, you'll naturally get more and more invested in it, and you'll have a lot more to show for yourself when it comes time to apply to college. (And the schools really want to see who you are as a person and what you care about and all the cool things you've accomplished because it shows them what sort of community member you'll be when you get to campus.)

And while you're doing that, make sure to stay focused on school as well. But don't stress out if your grades aren't 100% perfect. Schools, especially those in the Ivy League, would rather see you challenging yourself and getting a B+ than coasting through high school and getting an A+.

At the end of the day, if you're targeting Ivy League schools you DO want to get that GPA as high as possible. Same with your SAT/ACT scores. But you should not devote 100% of your attention to getting a PERFECT score. There's a LOT more that schools want to see and focusing exclusively on scores is a bad idea.

What is the national ranking of Walden University?

ResponseCurrently U.S News categorize Walden University as unranked school. 4th tier, online. Online universities are on the rise in terms of educational quality and Walden University is a top institution for higher learning, regarding its programs. The reason for this is two pronged. One, online Universities only in recent years have become such a socio-economic force, and traditional Universities lose business to online Universities.

Walden's programs were designed from the ground up to be delivered as distance education. Most traditional institutions have attempted to adapt their brick-and-mortar programs for online delivery in inappropriate ways; this is perhaps clearest in traditional schools that require students to complete online quizzes and examinations that can only ascertain whether the student is able to look up information, or knows someone else who can. Walden's programs involve discussion and and application of concepts to individual situations that cannot merely be duplicated by other students. That will eventually be reflected in the rankings when it has overcome the prejudice against online programs.

Also, many top colleges are now ranked low tier 1 or at tiers 2-3, and 4. Look at the tier ratings from U.S. News, and see how MIT is below Harvard, and how Harvard is at the top of the tier rating;this is clearly not the case, in terms of research or teaching quality. Many Master's programs at Walden University have the most current students among top online Universities and more graduates in MBA programs than traditional MBA programs, and most of them find gainful employment within 2-3 months.

Tier ratings are very subjective and do not reflect in any way the actual academic quality of an institution.

Should you go to George Mason University or Rutgers University and why?

It's really up to you. Assuming you're talking about undergraduate studies, George Mason is probably the better school, but it is considerably more expensive as you know, especially if you don't live in NJ. What it comes down to however is how you like it and how you think you will fit there after visiting each.

The Chartered Accountant Examination organized by ICAI is the toughest in the world, CS examination is not even 70% of CA exams.

@ the above...C.A exams..that got to be the biggest Joke..

How about Medical Entrance & IIT -JEE entrances..Leave all those..

I guess Institute of Actuaries , London or Even the Actuarial Institute in India itself conducts the toughest examinations ever...with a very meager pass percentage of .5 % or 1 %

Where is Rochville University?

An online university does not have a campus. They may or may not have offices in one or many cities across the countries. But these offices are used for administration purposes only. Online universities do not invite students to those offices because usually people who work there are technicians, computer programmers, server engineers, etc. They are not teachers and are unable to answer questions a student might want to ask. The best way to approach an online university is online.
