Quark was once the industry standard for page layouts. Many places still use it today including newspaper and magazine companies. In fact, a lot of these places ask for experience in Quark for potential employees. Some printers even still prefer files to be Quark package formats, but will have InDesign as a backup. The introduction of Adobe Creative Suite several years ago, however, has integrated InDesign more closely with the other industry standard software Photoshop and Illustrator, so a lot of places are now making the switch. Because of this integration, InDesign has become more powerful than Quark in general. We're not completely there yet, but that is where we are headed.

How many credits do you need to get an associate's degree in graphic design?
The associates degree is designed as a two year program of study as a full-time student provided the student takes the degree as prescribed by the college. There are some programs of study that may take a bit longer depending on the number of credits required. Usually these are programs within the health related fields. In addition, for students who require developmental course work as a result of basic skills testing, it would take longer. How much longer would depend on the extent of the developmental courses they are required to take. Evidently, those individuals who attend college on a part-time based would also extend their time in school. How much longer would depend on the credit load carried each semester. Typically, an associates degree takes between 60 and 64 credits to complete depending on the specific school, program of study, and state mandates.
How much money does someone with a Ph.D in sociology earn?
Well, I believe it depends on what you want to do with the Ph.D in sociology. Most people with Ph.D's teach at the college level, do research, and publish literature. Some Ph.D people work in the private sector or in non-educational jobs as quantitative researchers. But for the most part people with Ph.D's in sociology teach and become college and university professors. The prestige of the school you received your Ph.D from and the prestige of the school who you work for will impact your earnings. I believe publishing good literature will increase earning and maybe speaking engagements. Experience and tenure will have a great impact on earning capacity as well. People with Ph.D's in sociology can earn between $45,000 to $105,000. But the average is between $45,000 to $65,000.
What is an example of software?
Software is a set of instructions that tell the computer what to do, and individual computer instructions can be put together in different ways to cause a computer to perform the tasks that the programmer(s) wish to accomplish.
Computer instructions are extremely simple. Individual computer instructions consist of extremely basic commands, such as:
"add the content of register 1 to the content of register 2 and put the results in register 1"
"If the content of register 1 is greater than the content of register 2 continue processing at the location stored in register 3, otherwise continue processing at the at the next memory location"
Different processor types have different instruction sets, requiring that software be customized before it can run on different "platforms" (PC, Apple, Cray...)
Software can be loaded into a computer from many sources, such as disks, memory sticks, internet, to name a few.

What makes a good graphics card?
ram, its own ram
processing rate is super important
practically buy anything with big numbers
* erm not really.
Clock, bandwidth size and memory speed are more important then ram size.
Here is an example:
2GB GTX 285 would be completely out performed by a 1gb GTX 460, and totally destroyed by a 1.5gb GTX 480
Maybe you think that is a bad example, fine. A 512mb 8800gt would outperform a 1gb 9400gt. So DO NOT just buy "anything with big numbers".
Basically, look at ram last, and almost everything else first for gaming. Now for decoding, watching blu-ray and heavy graphics editing (and gaming on a resolution higher then 1080p), THEN ram size becomes a larger issue.
