What are the required GRE scores for veterinary school?
Scores will vary according to the specific school. Applicants must submit test scores from the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), the Veterinary College Admission Test (VCAT), or the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT), depending on the preference of the college to which you are applying. Currently, 22 schools require the GRE, 4 require the VCAT, and 2 accept the MCAT. However, admissions to veterinary school is very competitive. The school will be looking at you as an entire individual, and not just in parts. In other words, the admission decision is not based solely on test scores, but may also include the following.
Admission factors: * Class Rank * Rigor of undergraduate coursework and prerequisites
* Standardized Test Scores * Academic GPA Considered: * Application Essay * Extracurricular Activities * Geographical Residence * Racial/Ethnic Status * Recommendations * State Residency * Volunteer Work * Work Experience

Do you need to take GRE to get into Harvard?
The GRE is a general knowledge test (verbal, quantitative, and a written sample) only for graduate schools (masters and doctoral degrees) whereas the SAT and ACT are for undergraduate schools. On a side note, I have heard that the SAT is preferable to the ACT--especially for more elite schools like Harvard. So, to answer your question, you would have to take the GRE to get into most graduate programs at Harvard; but then again, it really depends on the program (e.g., the M.D. program requires the MCAT, graduate business schools require the GMAT, and law schools require the LSAT,). The best thing to do is to read the FAQs for the program or college you wish to apply to.

If a graduate program doesn't require a GRE score does it lessen the value of the degree at all?
No, it didn't for me. I received my Masters' Degree (in Urban and Regional Planning) from the University of Colorado. The program did not require a GRE score if the applicant had a overall GPA of 3.0 for their undergrad degree and the college that granted the undergrad degree was accredited.
Yes, I agree with the above contributor. While not trying to down play the effort behind the GRE, many colleges and universities are now indicating that the test is really not a good predictor of a students success at the graduate level. I personally know of more than a few institutions that require the test, however they pay very little attention to the results. Sounds unprofessional, but it is true.
