Why would canned green beans be flammable and spark in the microwave?
Don't put the can in the microwave.
Indeed not!
As they allegedly used to say, Don't try this at home, folks!
The beans won't be, even if green. The metal can and could - indeed would.
It absorbs the microwave (ultra-short radio) energy and converts it into electrical eddy currents within the metal. And several hundred W into a small amount of thin sheet-metal of low resistance...

Look for Italian style green beans. I think they are the same, I think they are called kentucky wonders only in kentucky and surrounding areas lol. How many cups of water do you use to steam 2 lbs of green beans?
It depends on the diameter of your pan. You need enough water to cover the bottom of the pan without boiling away before the beads are done, but no so much that it comes up above the bottom of the steamer basket. Then you would have BOILED beans rather than steamed! ;-)
I would guess that one cup would be about right for a 4 quart pot (which should be big enough to hold two pounds of beans).
How many grams is a cup of green beans?
Green beans are an agricultural product, and there will be variations depending on the soil it is raised in, the weather while it was growing, how much water they have lost since harvest, etc. There's been some research into the shrinkage and density of green beans as they dried, published in the Journal of Food Quality,
Volume 31, Issue 3, pages 323-346, June 2008, if you are sufficiently interested in that particular answer to pay for the article.
If you're talking of canned green beans, a #300 can contains 1.75 cups and Del Monte puts 14.5 ounces of no-salt cut green beans in such a can. Converting, we find that's 411 grams in 1.75 cups, and that is 235 grams per cup. Cooked fresh green beans would be very similar in density, as long as you took the ham bone out of the pot liquor before doing your measurements.

Green bean salad is a great recipe for those already over-ripe green beans!
I just harvested my beans this morning, and they're fuzzy, too. I poked around online, and I guess it's just that some beans are fuzzy, and some are smooth. This was my first garden, so I'm going to have to research a bit more to make sure the beans we plant next year are the smooth variety. It's already difficult enough to get my kids to eat green beans; I doubt they'll even touch these fuzzy monsters! For reference, mine were Burpee Garden Bean: Kentucky King. What did you plant? (so we know which two to avaoid next year). I did wash them in the sink with a little bit of dish soap and a scrubber sponge. They're still a bit furry, but the sticky/sharp fuzz is gone. I only planted six seeds, so I won't have too many of these to have to eat.
