This is basically saying that no matter what happens in this war with Iraq, we lose. Many people died and are still dying. Both American and Iraqi. It's saying that war is hell and regardless of the outcome, there is no winner. The hymn of faith and misery is the hymn of war. The company is America.

on holiday! "

Ths chorus is saying I refuse to listen to what you tell me about this war. I refuse to believe that there is any good in it. I refuse to submit to your lies that this will bring about a better life for us or those we are fighting with and for. And if we do submit and believe what you are telling us we have to understand that this is the beginning of the a new, (not better) life for us. We are on "holiday" if we give up and belive these lies.

This is simply telling the story of what is happening in this war. If you cross the line, we'll shut you up. There's money in this war so no protests will be heard. The plastic bag is the gag on the Statue of Liberty or the Lincoln Memorial or any of the monuments that represent life, liberty and freedom in this country. This war goes against many of the liberties we say we believe in so we have to "shut up" the voice of the monuments screaming for justice.

Point blank statement. The US will kill you if you don't agree with us. But that's not the way for the writer of the song. This song says don't kill me because I don't agree with you.

The whole song is saying that not everyone agrees with the lies and excuses given by our government regarding this war. That if we give in, we are condenming ourselves to live like this forever. If we stay on holiday regarding what's going on in the world, we might as well learn to live with the opression and lies.

DUH!!!... Most of the music is written by Billie Joe Armstrong (sex god) and a few songs were written by mike dirnt and tré cool (equally as awesome). They have done a couple covers and like to play covers of songs at their concerts but their music is legendary and i don't think anything can beat it.

PS. Green Day is two separate words!

Well that depends entirely on whether you're counting studio albums only - that is, a non-compliation album of originals/some covers that was produced primarily in a recording studio for the purpose of sales. In that case the Dead put out thirteen albums. However, over the years they (and their record companies) released ten compliation albums (made up of previously released tracks). "Skeletons from the Closet" was the first, and probably the most famous, of these. Then you have the live albums - recordings of concerts that are distributed through a record company. There are ten of those as well ("Live/Dead" considered by some to be the quintessential live album), but after that... well let's just say things get a little fuzzy. See, the Dead had a very loyal fan following, traveling from concert to concert with the band, making money along the way by selling grilled cheese sandwiches and doing other odd jobs. These "Deadheads" also captured these live performances by tape, sometimes an audience recording and sometimes they were able to patch into the soundboard at the concert. While most bands discourage this practice, the Dead encouraged it. This practice helped build a truly astounding library of live recordings, complied over decades and capturing several lineups and style changes (the Dead are famous for never playing a song the same way twice, often including expansive improvisational passages during/between songs). Over time, some of those recordings made their way onto official releases; the "Dave's Picks" and "Road Trips" recording series each have a few dozen live recordings apiece, and there were a whole mess of one-off/short-series live recordings. But the real kicker is that the Internet Archive (archive.org) has a section devoted to creating a complete, 100% free database of every single live Grateful Dead recording. Most of them are digitized versions of those taped shows, spanning the band's entire existence.

Yes, Green Day totally appropriate for kids. Kids under the age 2 may not listen to them cuz of of their lanuage. But if the child is 3 yrs and up of course it is fine my friend is 4 and he is in love with Green Day it is his fave band!!! But i will admit their song Horseshoes and Hand Grenades should NOT be heard of children under the age of 4. I have loved Green Day since i was 10 they r a great bnad and they will do no harm to ur kids and ur kids will not talk like them if they r raised good to know not to say those. Glad i helped.

I, on the other hand, would say that most of their songs are appropriate for children of secondary school age. I started listening to Green Day when I was 11, and it didn't do me any harm. Of course, it all depends on how willing you are to allow your child to listen to music which contains swearing and some drug references. As for it being depressing, I found it refreshing to hear some music that wasn't all happy all the time, and as a result actually meant something. The world is not always a happy place, and that's something most kids understand.

By the way, in terms of content, Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) and Poprocks and Coke do not contain anything unsuitable for kids.

Being an avid Green Day fan, its to my knowledge that they haven't split up. They are currently working on their side project - "Foxboro Hot Tubs" with the debut album set to be released in June 2008. A follow up to 2004's "American Idiot" is still being worked on.

They met in 1991 after a Green Day concert in Minnesota where Adrienne lived. They got married in 1994 in a small ceremony. The day after they got married, Adrienne found out that she was pregnant with their first son Joey.

Well I am not positive on what Laney Amps sound like, or what amp you are talking about by Laney b/c they have a lot. But in general this is what you want:

The entire album American Idiot has a pretty consistent guitar tone, and this is a good way to replicate it. They just take a huge stack, crank it up full throttle, and stick a mic in front of it. Once again, I don't know what amp you have so I can't get too detailed, but here's a pretty universal description. Set the Dist from a 4-7 range. Set the Treble from a 2-4 range. Set the bass to like 5-7. Set the mid to 10. Turn it up loud. You may need to adjust it a little in order to perfect it, but that's a pretty general Green Day setting.

okay the matrix, you are VERY VERY stupid!! green day is for real and if they weren't i would die! don't tell lies to upset the green day fans! We know everything there is to know about greenday.

Green Day first formed in 1987 and have been a band for 23 years. They first formed with John Kiffmeyer (Al Sobrante) and brought their first album out, 39/smooth, in April 1990. John Kiffmeyer left to go to college later that year and in 1991 Tré Cool joined the band and has been with them ever since!

It is about three boys from a small town who think there that there has to be something more besides there town. One boy gets into drugs and falls in love. Because of his addiction he looses the girl. One joins the military and meets a girl. The other gets a girl pregnant so he must stay with her in the small town.

In the end all three come home again. Green day's music explains the story beautifully. If you are even considering seeing the show you absolutely must.
