Ginnea pigs tend to drink when no one is watching. I rarely see my ginnea pigs drink anything. Try and give them lots of foods with a high water content like cucumber. You could also spray their food with water.

If it's not biting from your fingers smelling like food, it could be its really scared or if your doing something it doesn't like it might bite to let you know. There's a lot of different reason why they would bite. Pay attention to it.. what it likes, what it doesn't like, just treat it really good with lots of love!! Good luck

You can get them at a pet store BUT dont buy them --> --> Guinea pigs and ferrets can cough things up or make hairballs like cats. Therefore if they get any in their mouth and swallow then it is in them for good. If it gets stuck in their throat there is almost no way to get it out. Any fabric in the cage or on your guinea pig is not the best idea. Don't be nervous! Our clothes are fine as long as they don't chew on it. Harnesses are OK if they aren't furry or fuzzy. But if you mean fur skins made into clothing, these are quite popular in the high altitudes of the Andes.

Guinea pigs are from South America so they are used to warm weather and like it. Unless you got them from a pet shop they are used to the climate in the pet shop. As long as they're warm, have food, water, and hay, they'll adapt to be happy =)

When a guinea pig is yawning its a sign of aggression but it's also a sign that a guinea pig is relaxed and happy, so it can be confusing. If the yawning is followed by teeth chattering, it's probably an aggressive yawn, if it's followed by a stretch, it's probably good and it means your guinea pig is happy and relaxed. Even if it is an aggressive yawn, as long as there is no other signs of aggression, he probably is just trying to show the other one who is boss.

Guinea pigs generally like to nibble at just about everything, but if you see them eating a large amount of hair, this could be the sign of a health problem. My guess would be that if they are consuming a large amount of hair, they might require more fiber in their diet. You should take them to a vet to be certain it isn't a larger problem.

It could, guine apigs are creatures of habits and even the smallest changes can stress them out, try slowly adding the new food to the piggies diet.

It would depend on what type of hay how much it would cost, also whether it was a small sqaure, a large square, a softcore bale or a hardcore bale. Small sqare weigh between 75 & 100 lbs, large square are around 800 lbs but can be heavier, softcore around 1200 lbs and largecore up to 1800 lbs. It will aslo depend on whether there is a drought in the area where you want to buy bales. In our area bales are selling for as low as $25. for a soft core up to about $45. for a hardcore with small squares about $3.50 each. In the year of the drought we were paying $110. for the large square ones. So bales this year would be selling for about 2.5 cents per lb in our area which is western Canada.

our 3 1/2 year old Guinea was getting withdrawn and shrieked when we brought the rabbits in before him (they have adjoining playpens in the garden during the day). he had been bereaved for 2 weeks after his companions 10 day illness (not happy with vet). We bought two baby 6 week old brothers who took to him straight away. after 15 mins sniffing each other they all curled up in the 'castle' and it has been so nice to hear him making happy sounds again. therefore I would answer 'not happily.'

They probably won't let you because your guinea pig might be carrying a disease that you do not know of.

Guinea pigs want a lot of things:

A good cage,Water bottles and food containers.

Treats,including carrots,lettuce,etc..,

Unlimited Hay,Grass.

A good vet.They should be checked by a vet regularly.

Of course,your love and attention.

Both are okay. Guinea pigs don't really smell that nice, but they aren't nocturnal. If the child wants to play with their pet often, a guinea pig would be the best. Hamsters are cuter and more affectionate. They don't smell, but they're nocturnal. They sleep in the daytime and will get stressed and irritated if the child bothers them in the middle of a nap.

Try not to touch it. If more than one shows up, you may have to visit your local vet. The worst thing than can happen is you have to call a small animal surgeon to remove it. But if you are not 100% sure that it's a cyst it could be a cancer lump which is extremely dangerous. And if it is a cancer lump, pls (not that I want you to lose your furry friend) euthanize your piggie before it suffers. =( Hope this helped!

When you first get the animal, leave it alone as much as possible. I am not saying you can't handle it at all, just keep it to a minimum of two times per day, to reduce stress levels on it, since that is the number one cause for Wet Tail. Also changing it's bedding every few days will help prevent it. If your pet gets wet tail you should take it to the doctor as soon as possible, since in 48 hours it will die if not treated. If this is not possible, go to the pet store and get a medication called dri-tail which can help stop and prevent it, this medication may not work to stop it but it does help prevent it.

It depends were it is. If it's around its eye then it's most likely their cleaning fluid. It could also be dandruff, urine scald or sperm (male guinea pigs). If you are unsure about anything take your pig to an exotics vet.

Pigs can get almost any disease that people can get - diarrhea (enteritis), pneumonia, heart infections (pericarditis, myocarditis, endocarditis), arthritis, skin infections, urinary bladder infections, various types of cancer, etc. However, the difference is that pigs get sick from different bacteria and viruses than people (usually). In their first few weeks of life, pigs most commonly get sick with diarrhea (enteritis). Between the first and fifth months, the most common illness is pneumonia. Commerically raised pigs are usually sent to market at 5-6 months of age. Older animals, just like older people, sometimes develop cancer, chronic arthritis, reproductive issues and general age-related problems.
