My ginnea pig does not want to eat?

Anorexia (not eating or eating very little) is extremely serious and requires veterinary diagnosis and treatment. A cavy you have just brought home that is not eating may have a respiratory or other bacterial infection.

If your guinea pig has Anorexia, go to the vet immediately.

Why do male guinea pigs chatter their teeth at females guinea pigs?

Sometimes Guinea pigs chatter their teeth to display anger. If a guinea pig is chattering its teeth, that usually means it is feeling territorial or upset. If your guinea pig does this to another guinea pig, separate them. Careful, sometimes tame guinea pigs can become aggressive while chattering, and will bite.

What does it mean when a guinea pig scratches its nose?

Even though I don't have any experience with guinea pigs, if I use a dog as a reference, I'd bet it much for the same reasons as your guinea pig.

Dogs have wet noses because that's part of their respiratory system, in that the wet nose provides your pet a way to cool themselves internally. Most dogs have cold, wet noses and that's normal. If a dog's nose is dry and warm, most likely it's running a bit of a fever.

I don't know if a guinea's nose is also supposed to be cold, but I'd take a wet nose as a good sign until I found out more. You could call a vet and ask what a guinea's nose should feel like. Cold? Wet? Warm or dry? Most vet's have guineas as part of their regular patient list and they'd probably have a much better answer than I can give you. (Besides, I don't think they'll charge anything to answer that question for you. At least I don't think they should.)

Here is an answer from another contributor: A wet nose is normal, just be sure she doesn't have dried mucus around her nose.

^^

Yes, they can. It's quite cute, actually. Now, please know not all Piigies will do this. Some just like to lick people's fingers, some bite, some sniff, and it goes on and on. It depends on the personality!

Answer

Guinea pigs will lick you because your skin is covered with a fine layer of salt which pigs need a little of in their diets (just like us!). A salt lick in the hutch will ensure your pig has the salt he needs whenever he wants it.

Can you feed a baby guinea pig lactose free milk?

NO , please do not do this.

you only give guinea pigs milk if you have to like if the mother has rejected it and it is under 4 weeks of age. but if your guinea pig is over 4 weeks of age, then you have no need to feed it any sort of milk at all. But if your guinea pig is under 4 weeks and it's mother is no longer with it, pure goats milk is the best for it.

Hope this helps.

Does a TV hurt a guinea pigs ears?

Hello,

Guinea pigs are very sensitive to different sounds and can hear way better than any human. If there is any sound that is loud to you it will be miserable for it. When you ask if a TV can damage your guinea pigs hearing, it can only do so if the TV's volume is loud. The sound may not damage her hearing, but can be very unpleasent and disturbing to your guinea pig. My suggestion would be for you to put your furry friend in a quiet non-drafty room isolated from all noise. That's the best way to go, but just remember that A loud noise to you is a VERY VERY LOUD noise to your poor pet. GOOD LUCK!
