Dying can be caused by a few different things. Young guppies that are impregnated early (before they are close to full grown) often die due to the stress of birth. Guppy males will start trying to mate the female fry (young fish) as early as about 4 weeks of age. The second reason is also due to stress, but stress caused by males in the tank, constantly chasing/trying to mate with the females. It's recommended to have at least 3 females per 1 male in a tank as a distraction, allowing the female to get some much needed rest. Also, water parameters may be off with ammonia or nitrite too high. The babies will be more sensitive.

not many. Until recently i had a 15litre 'Baby Biorb' bowl with 2 goldfish in, however it did seem quite cramped even with just those 2 in there so I have upgraded to the 30litre version.

i guess however that it depends on what type of fish you are planning on keeping, i would say that my 15litre bowl would house maybe half a dozen minnows without problems, but anything larger will just feel cramped and won't be good the for the fish's health.

Make sure you use a breeding net to have babies. Then take the mother guppy and put her in a separate bowl by herself to rest and with lots of rocks and maybe a small house for a few days (2 - 3 days). Then, put her with all the other fish.

Just don't take the babies out of the breeding net (you can buy breeding nets at your local fish store), because then the female fish or male fish can eat the babies. The mother and father can also eat their own babies.

Short answer. Dont get five. Long Answer: You should always have 2 or three females to males. So I would recommend getting six. Do you know how to raise and birth fry? Or how to take care of them? These are important questions if you are getting different genders. Best of luck to you.

If they are the same kind of fish and it's always the same fish that's doing the chasing, then your fish are different genders. The male fish is the aggressor.

It's usually not a problem, but if the male fish is way larger it can nip off the other fish's fins after a few months bit by bit.

If you notice that the chased fish's fins are a bit tattered or broken, separate the fish from each other or add another female fish.

If you are asking about the Black Ghost Knife fish they are natural predators and their prey is any fish small enough for it to catch and kill. They also have the ability to electrocute a fish to stun it. They will kill neons and guppies but mollys may be a bit big for them.
