Breeding is easy but yet hard. All you need to do is get a boy and a girl guppy of course. If our going to have several guppies, then you don't get the same amount of boys and girls.
It's should be 2 females for every male. When your female guppy is pregnant you can't tell by it's size. You have to look at it's gravid spot. Which is right behind their stomach and the tail. It's right around the butt of the guppy. It takes about a month for the babies to be born. Plus you can not stress out your the pregnant fish.
What is the most number a guppy can give birth to?
Well, my guppy called Nmauva (pronounced, Nim - wava), had 54 babies, but we gave 6 away to my sister's best friend (neighbour) and we have 48 now.
So..
If guppies are beginners and haven't had babies before, they would give birth to around 10 - 60 maybe and well experienced mothers can give birth to 20 - 200 babies.
My guppy was a beginner and gave birth to 54.
Make sure you use a breeding net to have babies. Then take the mother guppy and put her in a separate bowl by herself to rest and with lots of rocks and maybe a small house for a few days (2 - 3 days). Then, put her with all the other fish.
Just don't take the babies out of the breeding net (you can buy breeding nets at your local fish store), because then the female fish or male fish can eat the babies. The mother and father can also eat their own babies.
Please follow all this information and I hope I gave you enough information.
How many male guppys can you have to how many females?
*EDIT BY AUTHOR* I'm a beginner and I'm getting 5 guppies. So should I get 1 male and 4 females or 2 males and 3 females?? I don't mind if I have a lot of babies, I'm giving them to good homes anyway.
Short answer. Dont get five. Long Answer: You should always have 2 or three females to males. So I would recommend getting six. Do you know how to raise and birth fry? Or how to take care of them? These are important questions if you are getting different genders. Best of luck to you.
How do guppies fertilize eggs?

How do you tell if a guppy fish is ready to have babies?
Answer 1: According to guppies.com, they are capable of breeding after one month. However, I'm not sure if this is too young for females to get pregnant, as I believe my female guppy is dying now after giving birth because she was impregnated too early in her life.
Answer 2: There will be a dark gravid spot near her tail. Her belly will be large. It will begin to square off as she nears her due date. It usually takes 21-30 days for guppies to have their babies after getting pregnant. The average gestation is usually 28 days. When she is ready to have her babies, she will hide.
Answer 3: If by ready you mean as in that day she will have babies, I've noticed that she will tend to skulk off into a corner or somewhere away from the main activity in the tank and if you observe her there often across a few hours, it might be time to segregate her so she can safely have her fry. But as said before her belly will need to be big and there will be a black spot (sometimes with a small patch of pink) around her anal fin.
Can a pair of guppies fish live in a fish bowl?
Yes, they will not fight, but they will breed and can have anywhere from 1-100 babies so if you want to breed them it is good and if you dont then it is not such a good idea. They will not harm each other Answer You shouldn't put any fish in a fish bowl unless you want to torture them! Give them a real aquarium. Most guppy aquariums are at least 5-10 gallons that's what i would consider. Hope this helps.
Can guppies live in a fish bowl with no filter?
Not for long. Guppies are tropical fish and need to be kept at around 75F. Then follow the basic rules. :- 1 inch of fish needs a minimum of 1 gallon of water. :- Every tank needs a permanently running cycled filter. :- Every tank needs at least 50% of its water changed every week. Keep the above rules and your fish stand a chance. Fail in any of them and I can guarantee that you will have constant health problems with your fish.
Why are your fish and chasing each other?
If they are the same kind of fish and it's always the same fish that's doing the chasing, then your fish are different genders. The male fish is the aggressor.
It's usually not a problem, but if the male fish is way larger it can nip off the other fish's fins after a few months bit by bit.
If you notice that the chased fish's fins are a bit tattered or broken, separate the fish from each other or add another female fish.

Do guppies eat their own babies?
because they need to eat
It's just in their nature. There's nothing you can do to prevent it or stop it from happening--guppies have, are, and will always eat try to eat their babies. The only reason I can provide is that natural instincts about eating their fry are instilled into their minds by the force of nature.
What age do guppys reach full size?
Guppies sexually mature at about three months, but are not full grown at that age. As a matter of fact many don't reach full growth due to several factors.
Their growth rate depends on things like tank size, water conditions, and food.
Can goldfish and guppies live under black light?
Yes. Goldfish are naturally used to being in light and may suffer if they are kept in the dark for long periods of time. It is best to get them a light designed for aquariums.
Yes. If he can catch them and swallow them he will. If you wish to keep and rear a few guppy fry then you should use a spare aquarium and have no fish in it except for the gravid female. Once she has had the young she should be removed too because she also will eat the fry. The babies(fry Whatever) will be hard to remove, so put the pregnant female in a tank that you want for the fry. good luck!
What is the relationship between tail size in male guppies and females?
Guppies are livebearing fish, and so they've been bred in captivity so long and so easily that many different varieties have been produced including fantail, lyretail, veiltail and many other long/draping tail varieties. These occur in males and females. generally, the male's tail is larger, but if you compared, say, a male with a small-tail variety and a female of a veiltail variety, the female's tail would be bigger because she's been selectively bred to have the big tail. If you're trying to tell the sex of your guppies, there's an easier way. Guppies are livebreeders and use internal fertilisation, meaning that the male guppy has a penis-like organ known as a gonopodium that he uses to make the female pregnant. It's basically a modified anal fin and is located just behind the pectoral fins. A female with a tucked up anal fin can look like a male until you learn exactly where to look, it takes a while. the gonopodium points back towards the tail and is very thin. Males are often leaner in the body than females also.

How and where can you sell or get rid of guppies?
You can get guppies at a pet store, or a guppy breeder. A professional guppy breeder will probably have higher quality guppies. Also, once you have guppies, if you have at both genders, the female will probably give birth around once a month, which is another way to get guppies.
