Why did Malcolm X change his name to El Hajj Malik El Shabazz?
The surname "Little" was bestowed upon his ancestors by people who had kidnapped them from Africa and enslaved them, therefore it was not a legitimate name. The name X indicated that he was in some way unknown (like an algebraic variable) to the European-dominated culture of the US.

What is the third day of hajj?
The Hajj Procedure
Day One
The Muslim begins her or his spiritual journey by reciting their intention to perform Hajj. She or he then enters a spiritual state called Ihraam where the Muslim will refrain from things such as cutting their nails and hair, making marriage proposals, hunting or killing animals, sex, and wearing perfume. The Muslim then makes their initial tawaf (circle) around the Kabaa'. Afterwards, Muslims run between the hills of Safa and Marwa, symbolic of Hajar, wife of Ibrahim, searching for water for their son, Ismail. It is here that water appeared from a well (the well of Zamzam) below Ismail's feet. The pilgrims then travel to the nearby town of Mina.
Day Two
Pilgrims travel to Arafah after morning prayer. Once there, the pilgrims pray and repent for their sins on Mount Rahma (Mountain of Mercy). After this, the pilgrim travels to Mudalifah and collects seventy pea-sized pebbles, which will be used the following day for throwing.
Day Three
Pilgrims travel to Mina and throw stones at the Jamarat, which is the symbol of all the evil in the world. These ceremonial actions represent our continuous battle against evil. While throwing the pebbles, pilgrims recite "God is great" and "in the name of God." Pilgrims may then sacrifice an animal, consuming one third of the meat, giving one third to friends and family, and giving one third to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha. Eid-ul-Adha is celebrated all over the world. It is a joyous day for all Muslims. Pilgrims then return to Mecca and circle (tawaf) around the Kabaa'.
Day Four
Pilgrims then leave Mecca and return to Medina where they once again stone the Jamarat Pillars, this time stoning three instead of just one. Once again, the pilgrims recite "God is great" and "in the name of God."
Day Five
Pilgrims stone the Jamarat once again and return to Mecca. Once in Mecca, they once again tawaf around the Kabaa'. This is the "farewell" tawaf. This is an emotional time for the pilgrims because this is the last time they will see the Kabaa'. This completes the Holy Pilgrimage.
if that helps :)
What can't a Muslim do during Hajj?
Hajj is a very important to me. so please correct me if im wrong. I am a Muslim. u are allowed to see the black stone and relive the life of the companions of the prophet Muhammad (may peace and blessings be upon him). What do Muslims need on a pilgrimage?
finding spiritual gifts and spiritual growth and solving their problems.
Muslims believe prophet or Imam never dies and after his death still can pay attention and reply and solve problems of pilgrims.
Why is the Hajj an obligation in the Islam faith?
Praise be to Allaah.
We Muslims feel honoured and proud to be the slaves of Allaah, the One, the Self-Sufficient Master, Who begets not nor was He begotten, and there is none co-equal or comparable unto Him; He is our Lord and we have no Lord besides Him. Hence we respond to the commands of our Lord with the utmost humility and submit to His commands, for we know that He is the All-Wise and no wisdom is greater than His. We know that He is the Most-Merciful and there is none more merciful than Him, may He be glorified and praised. Hence we love Him in a way that demands that we obey His commands even if that is somewhat difficult for us. We feel proud, happy and content when we do that which He commands us to do.
For if a human loves another person, he loves to serve him and that may make him happy. So what do you think about the Almighty Lord Who created us and grants us provision, and everything that we have is a blessing from Him? And His is the highest description. We owe everything to our Lord, so we must hasten to do all that He commands us to do, so that we might give back some small thanks for His great blessings. We can never thank Him enough, but by His grace Allaah the Most Generous accepts our small efforts and rewards us for them greatly.
For example, Hajj or pilgrimage. If a Muslim does Hajj in the manner required by his Lord, then Allaah has promised to forgive him his sins and admit him to Paradise, on condition that he does not spoil this action by committing any major action that would invalidate it and earn the anger of Allaah.
One of the great mercies that Allaah has bestowed upon this ummah (nation, i.e., the Muslims), is that Allaah has made obedience to His commands and the commands of His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) subject to the condition that one be able to do them. So long as a person is able to do them, then it is obligatory for him to do what is required of him, otherwise he is not obliged to do so and he is excused. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
"Allaah burdens not a person beyond his scope"
[al-Baqarah 2:286] - i.e., He does not ask him to do more than he can bear.
Concerning Hajj in particular, Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
"And Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah) to the House (Ka'bah) is a duty that mankind owes to Allaah, those who can afford the expenses (for one's conveyance, provision and residence)"
[Aal 'Imraan 3:97]
By His mercy He has enjoined this upon His slaves once in a lifetime, so that it will not be too difficult for them, but He urges those who are able to do Hajj and 'Umrah more than once to do so. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Keep on doing Hajj and 'Umrah, for they take away poverty and sins as the bellows takes away the impurity from iron." (Narrated by al-Nasaa'i, 2/4; this is a saheeh hadeeth as was stated by al-Albaani in al-Silsilat al-Saheehah, 1200).
This great act of worship was prescribed by Allaah so that we might praise Him and glorify Him, and thank Him for His great blessings and bounty. The purpose of Tawaaf around the Ka'bah is not simply to go around these stones! No, rather the reason is that Allaah has commanded us to go around it seven times and we obey Allaah by going around it seven times, no more and no less; rather we do what He has commanded us and we feel that we are His slaves, humbling ourselves before Him and praising Him and thanking Him for choosing us to be His slaves out of all of mankind who worship various gods, and may even worship themselves or their own desires.
The same applies to all the rituals of Hajj, and indeed to all the acts of worship that Allaah has prescribed for us. Praise be to Allaah, Who has honoured us with this great religion.

Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam. It is obligatory on each Muslim man and woman if they can afford.
Muslims believe that Adam constructed the Kaaba, but that it was destroyed in the Flood. According to this legend, Abraham was instructed to rebuild it and was assisted by Ishmail. While looking for a stone to mark the corner of the building, Ishmael met the angel Gabriel, who gave him the Black Stone, which was then whiter than milk. It later became black from the sins of those who touched it.
How do Muslims get to the hajj?
These days, generally be aeroplane. Those living close to the Hajj sites would travel by bus or walk.
___________________________________________________________________
Current;y, they go by air (flights), water (ships), or by land (buses or on foot).
Are special clothes worn during the hajj celebration?
It is called Ihram. It is one piece of unstiched clothing for the upper portion and another piece of cloth for the lower portion of body. This is for men only. Women wear their ordinary clothes.
What do Muslims dress for the Hajj?
Men put on two white sheets of cloth. They must be untailored. The women pilgrims put on normal dress.
Why do Muslims cut their hair when on hajj?
The final rite on the tenth day after offering his sacrifice is to shave one' s head or to cut some of the hair. Shaving the head is, however, preferable for it was reported that the Prophet prayed three times for those who shaved their heads, when he said: "May Allah's Mercy be upon those who shaved their heads." Bukhari and Muslim. For women, the length of hair to be cut is that of a finger tip. The stoning of Jamrat Al-Aqabah and the shaving of head or trimming of hair symbolizes the end of the first phase of the state of Ihram and the lifting of its restrictions except for sexual intercourse with one's spouse. Stoning Jamrat Al-Aqabah, slaughtering the sacrifice and shaving the head or cutting part of the hair are preferred to be in this order, as it is the order that the Prophet, salla Allah-u alaihe WA salam, did them. However, if they are done in any other order, there is no harm in that.

Hajj is one of the pillars of Islam with which Allaah sent Muhammad and without which a person's religious commitment is incomplete. The conditions of Hajj being obligatory are five:
1 - Being Muslim, the opposite of which is being a kaafir. The kaafir is not obliged to do Hajj, rather if a kaafir were to do Hajj, it would not be accepted from him.
2 - Being an adult. If a person has not yet reached the age of puberty, Hajj is not obligatory for him. If he does Hajj it is valid and counts as a voluntary Hajj, and when he reaches adulthood he must do the obligatory Hajj, because Hajj before puberty does not fulfil the obligation.
3 - Being of sound mind, the opposite of which is insanity. The one who is insane is not obliged to do Hajj, and Hajj cannot be done on his behalf.
4 - Being free. A slave is not obliged to perform Hajj, but if he does Hajj it is valid and counts as a voluntary Hajj. If he is set free, it is obligatory for him to perform the obligatory Hajj, because Hajj done before being set free does not fulfil the obligation. Some of the scholars said that if a slave performs Hajj with the permission of his master, this is valid and he does not have to repeat it. This view is more correct.
5 - Being able, financially and physically. In the case of a woman, this includes having a mahram. If she does not have a mahram, then she is not obliged to do Hajj. End quote.

How does a pilgrimage on hajj change a Muslims life?
Going to the Hajj changes a Muslim greatly. By going there, Muslims have fulfilled the toughest (as some would consider it) and last pillar of Islam among the Five Pillars of Islam. Such acts bring peace of mind and soul for each Muslim and allows them to worship Allah The Almighty (The Lord, The Exalted, The Most Merciful etc.) with a higher degree of respect. Overall, going to the Hajj changes a Muslim for the better forever.
Its helps you to lead your life in the way that Allah Subhanathala wants you to. In bold words, you are submitting yourself to Allah and sacrificing yourself for him in order to be a good Muslim. It makes a person forget the bad ways of life and believe that lying in the path of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) forgives all your mistakes. Hopeully if that person is dedicated to Islam, a Muslim becomes more well mannered and Allah will support him every step of the way to make him a good Muslim.
May this knowledge serve you well and GOD BLESS YOU. I hope this has answered you question.
How often are Muslims expected to make a hajj to Mecca?
Muslims go to mekkah once in their lifetime if they can afford it.
What are the origins of the Hajj?
Present day Hajj was originated by Hazrat Ibraheem (AS).
When prophet Abraham (or Ibrahim); peace be upon him; finished the rising up of Ka'bah, he prayed Allah (or God in English and same God worshiped in Christianity and Judaism) to bless Makkah (or Mecca) and its vicinity and to make people come visit it until the Day of Judgement though it was remote and in the desert. Qur'an says (meaning English translation):
"Remember Abraham said: "O my Lord! Make this city one of peace and security: and preserve me and my sons from worshipping idols. "O my Lord! They have indeed led astray many among mankind; he then who follows my (way) is of me, and he that disobeys me, but You are indeed Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. "O our Lord! I have made some of my offspring to dwell in a valley without cultivation, by Your Sacred House; in order, O our Lord, that they may establish regular Prayer: so fill the hearts of some among people with love towards them, and feed them with Fruits: so that they may give thanks." (14:35-7)
Is there any lingam inside kaaba?
We do not know for sure as no ordinary Muslims is allowed inside. Only the statesmen are allowed to go inside and we have to believe what they say.
They say that it is a stone room with no electricity and no floor rugs. Just a plain stone room. In the middle of the room, there is a horizontal bar from which the utensils which were used by Prophet Muhammad are hanged. Apart from those utensils, it does not contain anything else.
Sometimes they let other people in, though. My mother-in-law was allowed in in the early 1960's, as she happened to be there when it was open for some reason, and said that it was a plain stone room with a wooden table in one corner. She said you can pray facing any direction inside.
