Another easy way to get the achievement is use the Power Drain on a Grunt inside a Ghost, or a Trip Mine on any of the vehicles in the first Prowler battle of the level The Covenant.
- Another easy way is on the level The Ark, take a ghost to the part with the Jackals fighting marines. Just before the tunnel go to the area where you destroy the AA Wraiths and let the frigate come down. Ghost boost quickly to the left of the are right next to the entrance of the little tunnel, behind the upside-down mongoose and warthog. Drop a trip mine under a parked chopper with no driver that spawns there, if you get away fast enough, the brute driver will get in the chopper and the mine will go off the second he does. Just drive past everything else until you get to the 2 parked Choppers, 2 Brutes, and an overturned Warthog. Grab the trip mines next to the Warthog and race over to the nearest Shade. Jump out and run straight towards it (getting in between the turrets). Bash the Shade itself until you see visible damage (you should hit the front of the Shade and then the turrets of the Shade, alternate). Once you see damage, drop the Trip Mine right below the Shade and run so the gunner turns. The Trip Mine should blow and you get your achievement.
- Yet another method requires slightly more finesse. When you reach the first energy barrier on the level Tsavo Highway, jump out of your Warthog. Search the nearby buildings to acquire a trip mine. Once you have the trip mine, run out into the middle of the road and fire several shots at one of the Brute Choppers. There are several around. When the Chopper starts moving toward you, drop your trip mine. Wait for the Chopper to get too close to swerve aside, and jump to the side. You may catch a little of the blast, but only enough to propel you a little higher. If you don't feel brave enough to try this, just lay the mine, find some high ground directly in front of the mine, and shoot at a Chopper to lure it onto the mine.
- Another way is to go through the level Tsavo Highway on Legendary difficulty as normal until you get to The Broken Path. Then, after you fight all the Brutes (be sure to get a Trip Mine from the far "base" and the Pelicans drop off a couple Warthogs and some Marines, wait until the Brutes in the Choppers attack you. Throw a Spike Grenade in front of the Chopper, and then while the Chopper gets launched up, place a Trip Mine below him. You will get the achievement afterward.
- Just damage a Chopper on Tsavo Highway with a Brute shot, and if you are close enough, you will be able to throw a trip mine while the driver recovers and since choppers aren't too maneuverable, you should get the achievement. (Wait for the two spike things on top in front are bent up. This proves it's damaged enough.)
- An easy way to do this on campaign level Tsavo Highway is to play on multiplayer. After the Broken path, each grab a trip mine from the base at the top. get in a warthog and drive up the hill until you get about perpendicular with the sniping post. Both get out and stand on one side of the vehicle. You should checkpoint around this area. When the choppers crest over the hill, a few will aim at you. have one person throw a tripmine when the chopper charges you. If it hits, the chopper will be thrown, and take a moment to be able to drive again. During that pause, have the other player throw their tripmine at it. This should kill the chopper and get the achievement. If you both need it, revert to checkpoint and repeat, with the player who killed the chopper last time throwing their mine first.
- Start Tsavo Highway on normal. Drive with your warthog to the point where the drones and choppers are. Slaughter all Covenant forces and disable the barrier. Make sure not to destroy at least one of the choppers. Then, carefully drive your chopper to the point where marines jump out of the warthog. Go on the first part of the bridge then boost over the second part. If you miss, revert to last checkpoint. After you've killed all brutes and the Wraith go to the top of the hill and pick a trip mine out of the building. Get a plasma pistol and continue on foot. When choppers start to fight you, disable one with the pistol. Beat the vehicle if possible and drop a mine right in front of it. When it starts to move again, it will run right into your trap.

In Halo 3 what rings do you jump though?
Each number corresponds to the ring you must jump through. The ring at the elevator is 1. The ring next to Truth is 7. Sequence order: 4, 6, 5, 4, 5, 3, 4.
Once you have completed the sequence, the skull will appear at the beginning of the light bridge leading to Truth's podium. If you are not sure you got it then look at the rings when you complete the sequence, they will be blinking. The Halo theme will play as you get the skull. You must then finish the level, or the skull will not be saved to your profile and you will have to get it again.
The three most common mistakes with the Skull are:
- Doing the level on Easy. You must do it on Normal, Heroic, or Legendary for the skull to appear.
- Starting the level from Rally Point Alpha or Bravo. You must start from the beginning of the level.
- Jumping through the rings in the wrong order.
