Would be a great time to upgrade to a larger radiator as well if you get on your rb hard they seem to make a lot of heat.

1st tension - 49-59 Nm.

2nd tension - 96-108 Nm.

The Whole Story:

Typically, when a head gasket blows, it blows because of a much more severe underlying problem. Gasket kits (the 'parts' required to simply replace the head gasked) cost very little, sometimes as little as $20 to $30USD.

The common underlying problems that can cause a blown head gasket are a cracked or warped cylinder head, which are both caused by overheating. Sadly, a blown head gasket usually means that your vehicle is going to need a lot of money in repairs before it will run again...

No, head gasket work with the cooling, however it has been known to mix with the oil and make it milky, i guesss if to much mixed in the oil section then yes cause oil seal, valve cover gasket, all could fail at that point and leak but the oil you see should be white'sh brown. here are the signs of a blown head gasket back up of cooling in overflow, milky oil on dip stick, and the number one pick of signs is wet spot on block right around the head.

It just depends on if your doing it yourself or if your wanting a shop to do it?!

Doing it yourself will only cost you most likely a few hundred that's even with all the extra maintenance. Cleaning of all the parts and using the best sealants and all.

If you take it to a shop...well..... i hope you're ready to spend 1K+ for a good shop to do the work.

I have done this before. you need to do it twice. The sooner this procedure is done the better, the more you wait the less chances you will have as the inner parts become "dirtier". I know that many used car dealerships use it and it works. I have used it and had no problems, saved a lot of money too.

Sure used car dealers use this. They are selling the car and will not have to deal with the problems it causes later on. They just want to sell the car as quickly and cheaply as possible. Using this is only a temporary repair and will not be permanent. It can also cause problems within the cooling system by clogging vital parts. The only permanent fix is to replace the head gasket. Do not put this in your vehicle.

No you can keep going for a while, hopefully long enough to get to a garage and replace the head casket. At least that was my experience with a Ford 318. Check the Oil & water levels often, if you are not going to change right away.
