Do head lice live in dirty hair?

Head lice are commonly thought of in relation to dirty people.

This however is a point of view that is related back to propaganda and Hitler, his way of defending his views of certain races and certain people being less worth.

However effective this propaganda was, it was still wrong.

Head Lice actually prefer nice and clean hair.

You will of course wash a lot of the lice out every time you clean your hair thoroughly, but you will not be able to get rid of them all.

Dirty hair makes it more difficult for the lice to attach eggs to the hair.

The lice would prefer to go elsewhere :-)

But still. A home is a home. or in other words. Home sweet home.

Should you kill lice right away?

I've had lice before pretty bad. It is probably better to kill the lice right away because if not then they will keep developing and it will be harder to get rid of them. To get rid of them my mom and I used lice shampoo and then after a shower we used a comb and combed my hair and we got some bugs out that way. But yes you should try to get rid of it as soon as you find out. Hope this helped!! :)

Does cooking oil kill head lice?

Hi! I used baby oil for my kids hair when treating for headlice and found that it worked fantastically! Not only did it make getting the lice out but also the eggs too! They just slipped out and into the comb they went. Its all i use now.. Krystal
I've dealt with many cases of head lice before and baby oil is just a myth. It will not kill the lice. Lice can live in liquids for 14 hours, therefor it dose not kill them. But you can use baby oil for loosening the lice's grip on the hair. So if you have short hair I would say about 30 minutes, If medium length hair then leave in for 1 hour and for long hair leave in for 2-3 hours. After it is soaked in the oil then you must take a fine tip metal nit comb to comb them out.

Is there any purpose for head lice to exist?

Upfront, it may seem that lice do not have a purpose in this world. All they do is suck blood, lay eggs, hop from head to head, make people scratch themselves, get embarrassed and spur the question " Do lice have a purpose in the world" . Looking deeper, lice help people keep themselves and their surroundings clean, provide employment to hundreds of people who work in areas of medicine, cosmetics, advertising, modeling and of course comb making while inspiring certain people to wrack their brains and come up with an answer for the question " Do lice have a purpose in the world".

Really? Studies show Lice is more attracted to clean hair, so no matter how many times you wash your hair or how clean it is, your chances of contracting it are still the same as a person with dirty hair. And yes, people do spend time figuring out ways to kill lice and come out with many products to do so, it's not exactly a high traffic occupation, so if head lice were to be completely destroyed from the face of the earth i don't think it was be to traumatizing for the poor lame hair doctors who spend their lives looking at useless bugs under a microscope.
