It isn't contagious, but will effectively make the dandruff a beacon for their lack of hygiene. To stop dandruff you should use special shampoo because it can affect the children around you (especially at lunch time).
What is the most frequent factor of misdiagnosis head lice?
Lice is very common. I find that many get it during the childhood. three million ppl get lice each year in the United States. People should avoid using hair things and brushes with ppl who have lice. Many do not tell others they have lice b/c it is a nuesence. Also Hair Stylists don't cut lice hair but most ppl find it easier to treat lice with shorter hair. Try NOT TELLING the Stylist that's what i did.
All soap is lye soap. You cannot create anything that is soap without lye. If you are having a problem with head lice I would either suggest the shampoo they sell at the store for it or a shampoo that contains tea tree essential oil. ( Please do not put tea tree essential oil undiluted on your skin. It can cause irritation and burning if not properly diluted.) There are many online websites where you can buy shampoo that contains tea tree essential oil but I still strongly suggest you use the shampoo from the store.
How long between exposure to head lice and infestation?
A nit takes 7-10 days to hatch after being laid and another 7-10 to mature to a mating age. If nits are left in the hair and remain viable it can take a very long time to end an infestation. When treated properly, it is possible to end an infestation very quickly, even within 1day, but that requires proper treatment. The FDA-cleared LouseBuster medical device kills over 99% of nits in a 30-35 minute treatment. The use of this treatment combined with a thorough comb out with a high quality stainless steel nit comb, is very effective and very quick.
How many treatments are necessary to eradicate lice?
You treat head lice 7-10 days after the fist treatment. You do this because eggs hatch 7-10 days after they are laid. They can't lay eggs until 7 days after they are born! Use this process and you shouldn't have that bad of a prob. :) Hope this helps!
If you are getting the right treatment done for it such as getting a professional to pick it the lice out, using special shampoo and conditioner, it will take about 2-3 weeks.... It also depends on how bad it is
What kind of shampoo or treatment can be used to get rid of lice?
The WRONG Way
Using pesticide-based treatments. (They don't work and they're dangerous to your health.)
The inexpensive way
Get a good quality lice comb.
Get some olive oil.
Drench hair with oil and leave in for about an hour.
Comb out lice.
Use your fingernails to remove stubborn nits.
Be ready to do this over and over for days or weeks because your house is probably infested and your heads will get re-infested. And spraying with poison doesn't kill them.
The BEST Way
Get an essential oil based treatment to kill the lice containing Tea Tree Oil and Neem Seed Oil at the minimum.
Get an enzyme treatment to dislodge the nits so you can comb them out easily.
Get an enzyme clothing, bedding and environment treatment to help get them all out of your house.
The Medical Way
Pyrethrin (found in R&C Shampoo + Conditioner).
Permethrin (Nix Creme Rinse or Kwellada-P Creme Rinse).
Lindane (Hexit Shampoo or PMS-Lindane Shampoo).
All available at most pharmacies.
Pyrethrin and permethrin are safe when used on humans. However, lindane can be toxic (poisonous). Products with lindane should not be used on infants or young children younger than 2 years of age. You don't need a prescription for these products. And contrary to the above, they work well.
Advise from the American and Canadian Medical Associations
Some people use home remedies such as mayonnaise, petroleum jelly, olive oil, vinegar or margarine. Although these products may make it hard for lice to breathe, they probably won't kill them. Certainly not all of them and that will start the cycle all over.
There is very little evidence that wet combing works (removing lice by combing wet hair with a fine-tooth comb called a NIT COMB)
There is no evidence that products such as tea tree oil or aromatherapy work to treat head lice.

If you are a student and head lice is going around your school, buy some lice repellent spray. Try Fairy Tales Rosemary Repel Spray and Shield. Can you get lice from wash your hair too much?
No. You can only get lice from coming into contact, either physically or through another object such as a hat or pillow, with a person who has lice. Lice do not live "in the wild," they are human parasites.
In fact, washing your hair makes it easier for lice to move through it and attach eggs, therefore making a lice infection more likely. Natural oil secretions, stripped off by washing your hair, make it difficult for the parasites to attach effectively to the strands, thus inhibiting motion, feeding, and breeding.
It is possible, through daily washing, to wash out an individual louse that has not yet laid eggs, thus interrupting the breeding cycle and stopping the infestation, but this has not been shown to be an extremely effective method of controlling the parasites.
If one comes into contact with lice, the chances of contracting an infestation of the parasites essentially comes down to luck. Anyone can get them, regardless of age, gender, race, or hygiene habits. However, daily washing can result in early detection, making treating and curing the infestation easier.
How do you get lice out of the house?
Yuck! Those are the nastiest creatures. Okay well, you have to wash everything and dry everything you possibly can. You have to dry the items so they are dry and not damp. The heat from the dryer is what actually kills the lice. So don't skimp on the drying time. When I say you have to wash and dry everything. I mean everything. That includes the pillows, stuffed animals, clothing on the floor, bedding, anything that has the possibility of coming into contact with the lice. You have to make sure that the lice and its eggs are out of the person's head. Washing with the lice shampoo and picking out the nits isn't good enough. You have to follow that 2nd treatment and make sure you get every single nit out. and when you do get a nit out don't just throw the nit on the floor. Flush it down the toilet and wash your hands. Now, for the stuff that you can't wash. There is the spray for lice you can use around the house and on the bedding. But those cans can be real expensive after a while. So I would save those for the bedding. And make sure you get the entire bed, not just the top. You have to get the sides too. These are insects that crawl. So don't think they're going to stay in one place. If you happen to have a rug cleaner especially one that has a steamer on it, that is an excellent way to clean the carpet and furniture. The heat from the steam will help kill the lice. Also you can take insecticide and spray it on the carpeting or bug bombs, but that's going to the extreme. You also have to make sure you do your vehicle and the seats too. As long as you know that you need to wash and dry everything and spray the bedding and the carseats and interior and do the lice and nit check and cleaning on the head of the person, your lice infestation should go away.

Well it depends. When a lice jumps onto your head, it lays eggs all through your head. They are tiny at first, but in at least 7 days they get bigger as the baby lice inside the egg grows. After 7 days, the nits, or "eggs" hatch. That will make the lice bugs tiny where you cannot even really see them.. after time the lice bugs grow bigger. More and more will lay eggs and continue to hatch if you don't treat them right away! I recommend RID or washing your hair in vinegar. It helped me, and I haven't had lice since then. I hope this helped.. :)
Can you get head lice without lice eggs?
First, a lice can fall or attach to someone's hair. Then, it lays eggs and the eggs turn into lice, THEN there is more and more lice. To treat lice, you just go to the store and buy some of the shampoo that they have. The intructions are all on the bottle or inside the box that it comes in. Trust me, you don't want to just leave it in your hair.
Can lice live in your leg hair?
Yes. Lice can live on pillows, blankets, Teddy bears lol, cloths, etc. To get rid of these lice problems, get to the source (your head) and after that is accomplish; wash your belongings (if some can) put in washer to hot water and extra hot air for drying time. Lice is very spread rapidly so if you have lice in your home and head, hurry and get them out! They can even be in sofa (like the eggs).

How do lice make your head itch?
a head louse has 6 legs each one with a claw like thing on it. These claws can irritate and scratch your head making you want to itch it. Another way they can make your scalp itch is by feeding on your blood their saliva or bites can make your scalp itchy if you are allergic to it but it's most likely the claws.
