Heating AC and Engine Cooling

Heating, air conditioning (AC) and engine cooling require a radiator to transfer heat. Heating a cabin requires heat to be transferred from an engine block. Engine cooling blows the heat out of the engine. AC uses refrigerants to cool air.

What demists your car windscreen quicker on a cold and wet day - warm air from the heater or cold air from the aircon?

You have to heat the windscreen in order to make the water dissolve into the air again.

When the screen gets too cold, the air directly around it inside the car will also be cooled. The maximum degree of humidity of air depends on its temperature, and the cooler it gets, the less water it is able to contain. Therefore water that can not dissolve in the air will condensate - on your screen. Heat it up and it will dissolve again.

What is wet cooling?

The only thing that I've heard of with "wet cooling" in, is a wet cooling tower. A Wet Cooling tower for the closed-circuit cooling of water where the water to be cooled comes into direct contact with the cooling air dissipating heat by evaporation and air heating. The air draught required for cooling can be induced by fans or by the natural effect of the stack of the cooling tower building (natural draught cooling tower).

So I don't know if that answers your question or not, but i hope it helps...

Is the Hudson river stove company's saranac fireplace insert a good product?

I bought the Sarnac inert three years ago. Out the box it didn't work, a bad control panel. The following year the glow rod went. The second year the heater blower went. The third year I can't use it past level one, within 3 hours on level two the fire box over filled with pellets and shut down. I called the manufacture several times and tired several things the tech rep suggested, new fire box, new control panel, induction blower and induction channels with no improvement. The store where I purchased it sent out their tech and spent over 4 hours checking out the insert completely and couldn't find anything wrong. And that was that, I'm left with a $3,000 metal box in my fireplace. I wouldn't buy or except a free product from Hudson River Stove. They just blew off and didn't back their at all. My answer is a big NO

Why heater blowing cold air?

first check the coolant level in the radiator, I just experienced this firsthand at the advice of my Advanced Auto Parts Team, I filled the radiator up , It didn't take a whole lot, and instantly had heat again. Next ,if the first doesn't work, try replacing the thermostat. I went ahead and did that today and the whole repair cost around $11.00 plus my time of about an hour , I am not a mechanic, just a dad trying to cut costs and diy.. hope this helps.

The running pressure of a liquid-cooled engine is controlled by a?

Coolant pressure begins to rise above 0psi as coolant temp increases. The pressure cap on the radiator or elsewhere will contain this rising pressure until it reaches the preset spec. written on the cap. Then a relief valve opens, and coolant is vented to the overflow or the ground to maintain pressure. Usually about 15psi.

What is the Disadvantage of an air cooled engine compared to a liquid cooled engine?

The dis advantage is that it takes longer to cool the motor as to a liquid cooling it. You can mess up your motor alot quicker also.
