Henry the Navigator
Better known as Prince Henry the Navigator, this Portuguese prince was responsible for funding the explorations of the African coast in the 1400s. He was also the founder of the University of Lisbon. When John I died and Henry's oldest brother Duarte became the head of the castle's council, Henry got a huge margin of the profit. He mainly financed himself, but he also held some monopolies on the Algarve. When Duarte died, he got richer.
