What did the concentration camps look like from a birds eye view?

Many photos exist of both views in time, and many are online, though almost all of the old photos are in black and white.

Maps, made from escapees accounts, were made and distributed, and some film and photos were smuggled outside the gates to the wider world, long before the camps were liberated or even acknowledged publicly by most country's allies.

In the areas where camps existed, many tradesmen, townspeople and workers at the camps of course knew their location, and some people would also have known their purpose, having worked within their gates for so long. Germans and camp guards of all nationalities, often took photos of their time in the camps, and sent them home to family and friends, like postcards.

And, in 1942, an open address on the subject was delivered to the United Nations, by representatives from Poland.

Aerial views of some camps from many countries can be found at various websites devoted to the history of WWII, but if you google "aerial view of camps in Poland" for example, you will find many of the larger and better known camp views, there:

What was the effect of characterizing Jews gypsies and gay men as subhuman?

In Nazi Germany, the effect was to justify the murder of them by the government and the recruitment of Germans to do the killing. In addition to Jews & gypsies, the Nazis declared Slavs in Eastern Europe and in the Balkans as sub-human deserving to die.

A myth is that homosexuals were targeted as a group. This is not true. The vast majority of homosexuals kept this part of their lives secret in Germany in the 1930's. In fact the Nazi Party secretly had members that were homosexuals. Homosexuals were not declared to be sub-human by Nazis, but deviants or lacking moral character. The Nazis, on occasion, would accuse people of being homosexual as a means to discredit them. Sometimes this was done to purge them from the Nazi Party, or from their government positions. If these people were political opponents then they were put in concentration camps and often killed. Also, not all that were accused were actual homosexuals. In the vast majority of cases, homosexuals in concentration camps were there because they were Jews, Slavs, political opponents or considered a threat to the Nazi regime.

From a practical matter it was much easier to single-out Jews & gypsies from society because all citizens & visitors in Germany were identified in-detail by all the local governments. In affect all Germans (& Europeans) were "registered". Their ancestory was known (blood lines, not DNA). Gypsies were families. Homosexuality was difficult to prove, and the German public understood that, compared to proving Jewish parents & grandparents. This government registration is difficult for most Americans to understand, unless they have emigrated from overseas.

In The Hiding Place what was Peter arrested for?

Why were the disabled persecuted under the Nazi regime?

Part of Nazi and facism ideology and a piece of society common in Europe during the time was the cult of the body, the idea that having a healthy body made a person an asset to the nation by contributing "healthy" genes and healthy citizens. Those who were disabled had, according to this idea, shown themselves unable to maintain a healthy body and thus were a threat to the nation by contributing "unhealthy" genes, and were also a drag on the greater development of the nation. This is related to the idea of Social Darwinism, that society ought to promote the survival of the fittest in humanity.

Were the Germans poor after Holocaust?

Standing on its own, the holocaust enriched the German Third Reich, because the Nazi government not only murdered 6 million Jews and another 5 million others in addition (political opponents, mentally ill or disabled, gypsies, slavs, and homosexuals), but also stole the property and wealth of the murdered people. The surviving German people gained the economic benefit of using the houses, automobiles, furniture, jewelry, clothing and other items stolen from the murder victims. The German economy suddenly had more housing and more consumer goods to spread around, having ruthlessly murdered the previous owners. The government confiscated the wealth (money) of the murder victims, even taking the gold fillings out of their teeth and melting down the wedding rings. Hitler's claim to having improved Germany's economy must be understood in terms of how Hitler achieved it: By stealing it from 11 million murder victims, as well as by looting neighboring countries. The Nazi economy was a "Ponzi scheme" or pyramid scheme. It could only be sustained by continually conquering more neighbors and stealing their wealth. However, other things took place as well. Hitler starting World War II was an enormous gamble. Especially the invasion of the Soviet Union was a huge gamble. Ultimately, those gambles failed. The War destroyed the German economy, along with the economy of most of Europe. The Holocaust ended in 1945 -- by which time it is well known that Germany had been thoroughly defeated by the Soviet Union and the United Sates, its cities, factories, railways, harbors and whathaveyou had been bombed to smithereens, it had lost large parts of territory both east and west, and had to contend with 12 million refugees. So, if the question was about the economy, in 1945 there was no German economy to speak of; in fact, the German spent the next few years basically living on charity. However, there is another side to the subject, and this is the fact the the Holocaust was perhaps the most stupid crime in History. The Nazis chased half a million German Jews out of Germany and murdered another 6 million Jews because they actually believed that the Jews wanted to destroy Germany. Yet this was pure paranoia on their part, as the German Jews were completely devoted to Germany and the absolute majority of the rest of the European Jews were actually quite fond of Germany, thinking it a cultured and civilized land (an impression reinforced among the Eastern European Jews due to the good behavior displayed by the German troops in Russin during the First World War). So in addition to material losses, the Germans also lost some of their best citizens, all their friends, and also their good name and reputation. It doesn't get more "poor" than that.
