It seems that the reverse may be true. If you have a bias, you may be driven to try to promote or prove it. So you may be impatient when it seems the odds are stacked against your viewpoint, and it may drive you to be fanatical, commit criminal acts, or otherwise behave in a frantic manner.

If it is a type of bias such as racism, then you would have less patience for those of the group you are biased against. So you would overlook certain behaviors by members of your own group, but confront or seek to punish those of the target group when they do the same things.

When a guy acts shy, it may indicate that he is feeling nervous, self-conscious, or unsure in a social situation. It could also be a sign that he is interested or attracted to someone and is feeling anxious about making a good impression.

Humans and nature could coexist, but in order to coexist indefinitely humans would have to treat the environment responsibly, like a caretaker. Humans cannot act irresponsibly, like polluting the environment with chemicals, having nuclear power plant meltdowns, clear cutting rain forests, putting chemicals in the air, etc. and expect the delicate balance of nature to last indefinitely.

The number one reason kids yell in the halls at school is to annoy teachers and other students. This would be a great way to get attention or show off. Not really the best attention though. Other reasons are; to talk to someone far away, get someone's attention who is far away, show off, get attention, annoy teachers, etc.

1. They may have deep hatred or a desire for revenge.

2. They suffer psychopathy and genuinely enjoy others being in pain.

3. The person has something they want such as property or information, and they will torture to force out that information.

We could add war crimes, but that would include any or all of the above. They may actually hate their enemies, enjoy seeing them suffer, or need to extract information from them.

The answer is both yes and no. If you mean the way PT Barnum defined it, yes. He said that a "sucker" was born every minute. It is usually greed and gullibility that cause people to lose money through gambling and confidence scams.

A common scam is to tell you they are doing something illegal that can be used to multiply your money. You may give them $20, and they give you $30. Then you may give them $50 and receive $75. Then they ask you for $500, which you give them, expecting $750 back. But, you never see them again. You may consider going to the police, but then you realize they told you they were doing something illegal and think of yourself as an accomplice, so you avoid reporting it out of fear of going to prison. But the only crime committed is their fraud since they only made up the story about the crime as a ruse, and the "profits of the crime" is actually their own money. So they willingly lose a little up front hoping to pull you in for the big scam. Yes, in the example here, they lose $35, but they gain a total of $465 in profit.

However, if you mean the term in the sense that modern psychology defines it, the answer is no. In psychology, the Barnum Effect refers to how gullible people are when reading descriptions of themselves. So you could cook up a fake personality test, give it to a group of people, give everyone the same description, and they would agree it is accurate.

Dale Carnegie tried something along this line. He may have mailed out letters congratulating random people on their "recent success" and included either a self-addressed stamped envelopes or a phone number. Most would contact him back asking, "How did you know about that?" So they accepted the congratulations almost unanimously. Nobody claimed he didn't know what he was talking about. So everyone desires to be appreciated.

He realized he was looking at the wrong end of the problem by trying to figure out how to build a machine that used conventional needles. He realized it was time to invent another type of needle, and that if that was done, creating a machine to use it would be much easier.
