Advantages of ibuprofen over diclofenac?
Ibuprofen has fewer side effects than diclofenac, though it's anti-inflammatory properties are weaker. Common side effects include gastro-intestinal discomfort (stomach ache), nausea and bleeding and ulceration. These can be reduced by taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) with food.
I must add though, you should follow the advice your doctor gave. If you turn to answers.com, you probably don't have the expertise on which to make an informed decision.
Can you take Advil Cold and Sinus when you are not sure if you are pregnant yet?
If you honestly think you could be pregnant, don't take it if the box says not to. Call your doctor and see what they say. It may be OK to take or they may tell you another type to take in case you are pregnant. If you're pregnant, it's worth the calling around.
I had a cold 13 weeks into my first pregnancy, and the only thing my doctor would allow me to take was Tylenol cold medicine, and that was only because I was past 12 weeks. I would not recommend taking anything until you are sure you are pregnant. Drink extra fluids and try a vaporizer.

Can you give a cat Tylenol or Advil?
Not sure about cats but it will kill a dog and has a very small margin of safety even in humans so would highly recommend against giving it to a kitten. Tylenol will kill your kitten! If you don't believe it, your Vet will certainly tell you the same. All you have to do is make a phone call and even the Vet Tech at any animal hospital will tell you the same. NEVER GIVE YOUR PETS TYLENOL! IT WILL KILL THEM!
Is Tylenol or Advil better to relieve inflammation?

Can you take ibuprofen if you take 0.5 mg of lorazepam?
Well, I just did. I'll let you know if I survive. (Not a joke). In all likelihood, low doses of both should be okay. Ibuprofen is a pain reliever and reduces inflammation. Pain relieves are not good to take with benzodiazepams because the benzo is going to suppress nervous system activity while the pain reliever will intensify the effect.
Too much of an NSAID like ibuprofen can cause reduced nervous system reaction as well. Combined with Ativan (lorazepam), too much can make you fall asleep and way too much may stop nervous system functions, like your heart...
Low doses of both though, (200 mg of ibuprofen with 1 mg of lorazepam) will be fine... however, you shouldn't really need to take both. Take a different pain med for pain, not an NSAID. Tylenol might be better, but I'm not a doctor. There are likely side effects or consequences for everything.
General rule of thumb - unless told by a doctor - don't mix medications too much, even over the counter ones with prescription meds.

Only take as much as it takes to control the pain. Start out with 200 mg every 4 hours. If that works, stop. If it doesn't, take 400 mg. and see if that works. If you have to take more that 600 mg every 4 hours to control the pain, it's time to go to the doctor. Good luck.
Which pill is better for pain relief advil or Tylenol?
Advil (ibuprofen) or Aleve (Naproxen sodium, which in higher doses is a prescription non-steroidal anti-inflammatory), and aspirin may be better at helping calm down the inflammation which part of the migraine reaction than Tylenol (acetaminophen, in the UK/AU - paracetamol)
That said, some people do find relieve from preparations like Excedrin (Excedrin Migraine is the same thing, same ingredients in the same amounts), which have acetaminophen (Tylenol), aspirin, and caffeine in it. Caffeine helps by making the other medications work faster, as well as acting as a vasoconstrictor (temporarily acting on inflamed blood vessels). Aspirin, like ibuprofen and naproxen, acts on prostaglandins to reduce pain and inflammation. Acetaminophen itself really only reduces pain, it does not act on inflammation.
If you are under 18 or pregnant/nursing, it may not be safe to take aspirin. If you an adult on anti-coagulant therapy (coumadin, warfarin) , please speak to your doctor first.
Is it ok to take norco with ibuprofen?
You should split them apart by about 3 hours. Both of these are pain medications, and are harsh on your stomach. Taking that much together would be very likely to give you severe heartburn and possibly nausea.
Yes you can. Ibuprophen, being an NSAID, is great for imflamation pain. Lortab, of course is a narcotic mix of Hydrocodone and "Tylenol". I recomend taking 400mg to 800mg of Ibuprophen ALTERNATING with the Lortab. In other words take the Lortab every six hours and in between doses of the Lortab take the Ibuprophen. This will keep stomach irritation down. The other possibility is to ask your Doctor to prescribe Vicoprophen, which is a pill that has Hydocodone and Ibuprophen (instead of Tylenol) in it. It has 200mg of Ibuprophen so it may require you to take another advil or two with it to boost the ibuprophen level.
What is the difference prescription Ibuprofen and store bought Ibuprofen?
the price
From my own experience there must be a difference in the coating. I can easily stomach 4 over the counter ibuprofin 3times daily (and have for 20 yrs.) which = the same as 1 800mg. prescription tablet 3times daily. I can not stomach the prescription at all. Taking 2 400mg. prescription ibuprofin also went down fine. but the prescription can cost much more than the walmart version-$8 or less for 500 tablets.
