Why you can not use Debit Card for online transactions like Credit Card?

you usually can. perhaps your debit card doesn't have the "visa" or "mastercard" logo. If not, then you will have to get one that does or get a major credit card. But you should always use a credit card for online purchases. They have a higher level of consumer protection that doesn't exist on debit cards. Here's an interesting article that i came across that discusses the difference: http://www.creditscorehero.com/blog/2008/11/buyer-beware-liquidation-sales.html

How do you know a banker's draft is not a fake?

You don't. Only the bank will be able to tell. Even so, DO NOT release any goods until the draft has been 'given value' or you are able to 'draw on the funds'. Clearing means something different in bank speak. This process usually takes 3-5 working days. Don't risk it, it's bound to be a large purchase if you need a bankers draft for it.

Why do banks exist?

To act as an intermediary between despositors and borrowers basically - but there have been changes to the traditional banks in that nowadays banks provide a lot of new functions to its customers aside from loans and deposit holdings. Savings accounts, mortages, financial market investments etc... I'm doing this question for one part of my University coursework - exactly the same question as well... ----- If I may add to this...

Banks exist primarily to provide a secure place to store wealth held in the form of readily available money.

But like all enterprises staffed by humans, banks also exist in order to make money.

Banks make money by making loans from a portion of the deposits and charging interest on those loans. Banks compete for deposits through the interest rates offered on them. Banks also charge fees for various services, all of which involve moving money from one account to another or issuing checks and credit cards. Plus there are fees for processing loans, etc..

As a result of these various activities - without which the bank would not make any money - banks are considered vital to economic development through their prudent investment of portions of the wealth stored in them. Banks are also considered integral to various other functions related to the management of the nation's money supply and systems of credit.

However, regardless of what banks now do, they exist first and foremost as a secure place to store wealth held in the form of readily available money. If a bank can't do that, it quickly loses credibility as a bank. Once that happens, it won't be in business for very long.

How much is the fee for Anti-Terrorist money Laundering Certificate fee in UK?

There is no such thing it sounds like you may be mixed up in a 419 scam as Banks will have you fill out a form stating where the funds are going and do not charge fees for such. Further when funds are transferred from one country to the next, the fees involved are charged by the sending bank and come out of the funds you are sending or you can pay the fees in person and sometimes the bank where the funds go to may charge a fee which I assume would be your bank. NEVER SEND FEES TO ANYONE ANYWHERE FOR ANYTHING such as the above or so called currior fees , So called required bank fees and such as this is whats called the Nigeria 419 scam and is all over the net. You may receive a email stating they need help to recover millions of dollars before their bank finds it, or they may say they have money labled as family heirlooms and tell you it is full of money but that they cannot get to it because they are under house arrest or some other reason. They are all scams....Think about it why would someone who has millions ask you a total stranger to help them hide the money or receive it and if they have millons or are so called Doctors or so Called bank President and government officials do you think they really need you to pay a fee?
