It depends on the delivery and content of the speech. A discursive speech can be interesting if it is engaging, well-structured, and presents thought-provoking ideas. On the other hand, it can be boring if it is overly long, lacks focus, or fails to connect with the audience.

I would like to raise a toast to all the new faces in here. New faces that we don't know till now but would wish to know. The same new faces that once belonged to us an year ago. The same new faces that, over ashort period of time, will no more be, 'NEW' faces. But faces they are now to us, and yes 'new' faces.

Well, I speak on behalf of all the second year students here. Just a few lines of how we all feel at this juncture. Here I go.

Newness or novelty has been intriguing and fascinating to man since the Neanderthal times. Novelty for us is excitement and exuberance, surprise and science, cheerfulness and joy, hope and happiness, boldness and buoyancy, positive ness and passion. But men as we all are, novelty to us also means risk, unfamiliarity, uncertainty, fear, doubt and disturbance.

In the same token, the old and the established stands for 'the familiar and comfortable', 'knowledgeable and therefore able', 'mature and therefore trustworthy','rugged and therefore reliable.' But all this goes with accusations of 'stagnation and staleness','out-of-date and outmoded ness' and 'the slow and the stumped'.

What I wish to express using all the 'adjectives'that I used is that these new faces in here, our juniors for the coming year, represent to us the same hope and challenge as new players in a cricket team or new twists in a good story. And we, as seniors,should ideally be the matured bunch, a bunch of guys and gals they could trust and depend upon.

Together, we can make a terrific team. You, a brand new Ferrari and we, the sparking black, Ford Model T.

So, I, on behalf of all the 'old' faces here, welcome the new faces with open hands, open minds and above all, OPEN HEARTS.

This can be in the context of something tangible, such as a car, where doing a little maintenance on it every month is better/ cheaper than having to fix it when something breaks.

It can also be in the context of something intangible, like a relationship, where addressing an issue or a problem with someone is better than letting it get out of hand to the point where the friendship is ruined.

The question is perhaps a bit ambiguous. If it means, "Why do people speak?" the answer is that learning to speak a language is one of the defining characteristics of human beings. All people learn to do it naturally at a very young age. Sometimes people who are raised by animals do not speak, but then they behave like animals in every other way also.

If it means "Why do people have to give speeches?" the answer is that this is the easiest way to get your point across to a lot of people at the same time. If I need to explain why the mayor's plan is wrong to a lot of people it is quicker to call a meeting and speak to them all than to talk to each one individually.

If it means "Why do we have remedial speech classes?", someone taking that class can answer: "As you can see, some people can't talk very clearly, so they go to speech to learn to talk clearer. Speech could be at school, an office, or a place next to Publix."

Speech which isn't spoken the way it should be - for example by merging words together like 'whatsit too ya'.

Ideally, you should include important people who will be there and acknowledge guests.

Every speech begins with a greeting to the group being addressed. Next, offer congratulatory words to the graduates for a job well done. Acknowledge their hard work and perseverance. Then, encourage them to continue doing well as they venture off in the unknown world of middle school. Finally, remind the graduates of their potential to succeed. Close the speech with a word of confidence in their abilities, thank them for their time and congratulate them one more time for a job well done.

It would be impossible to list all the accomplishments of our guest speaker. Once an extremely accomplished football player, he is now retired from football. He is hardly taking it easy, though. After football, he went on to become an author. His books have inspired many young men to pursue their dreams and become all they can be. With no farther adieu, let us welcome John H. Doe.

Good morning to each and everyone of you here. Today is our glorious graduation day. We might think that our studies are done, but not yet because we will be entering another adventure of being junior high school students.
