How do you get rid of mealy bug?

Rubbing alcohol works very well on mealy bugs. Just use some alcohol soaked, ear-swabs and rub all of the white gunk off. Or, if you have a spray-bottle, just douse the mealy bugs with it. Be careful not to hit any flowers, as this may singe their petals.

Hope this helped!!!! :)

How is the vision of insects and arachnids different?

Most spiders have four pairs of simple eyes, usually grouped into two or three rows, an arrangement that gives them a wide field of vision. Insects have one pair of compound eyes, each made up of individual hexagonal-shaped facets and each facet has its own optic nerve. Their compound eyes allow them to see all around themselves without moving, and this ability makes them very sensitive to seeing any nearby movement.

Bat and birds both have wings so why are they found on different branches of the tree of life?

Birds' wings feathers and bats' wings do not.

Bird wings are supported by a leading bone along the front while bat wings have bone supports across the wing.
heres a few things:

  • Bat wings are leathery to the touch, and not made out of feathers like bird's wings.
  • Bat wings are shaped differently, they are for cutting through the air quickly, whilst bird's wings are merely to keep in the air, and when birds want to dive quickly, they have to go up high and bring their wings to their body in a more or less freefall.

As well,

wing of a bat:

-has sheets of skip (patagium) between digits 2 through 5, all of which are elongated

- skin between body and hindlimb and tail (uropatagium)

wing of a bird:

- wing terminates in set of fused bones, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th digits

- greatest part of airfoil is made of flight feathers (light and produce wing slots to reduce drag)

What is a round black six-legged biting bug?

Tick-like black bug South TexasI have no idea what this bug is but I have been bitten 3 times by these vicious 1/4" black, hard-shelled, oval/round shaped body, 6-legged bug along the creek bed and through tall grasses in South Texas. Hard-shelled and flat like a unfed tick but all black. Also, the body seemed more oval like - not interrupted with a beady little tick head and the legs were evenly distributed around the body -not 4 in front 2 in back. I felt the nasty bite immediately and really had to pry the creature off - no welt , but it definitely broken through the skin and left a redden bite mark that doesnt seem to go away. Fully clothed, I was bitten once on the stomach and twice on the neck. Sure would like to know what this is.

What are two harmful insects?

We think of insects as being pests in the garden, but only the insects that feed on our plants or transmit disease are pests. Many insects are useful and are called "beneficial." There are three main groups of beneficial insects: pollinators, predators, and parasitoids.

Pollinators include several bee and fly species, and the ones that we're most familiar with are honeybees, bumblebees, orchard mason bees, and syrphid flies.

Predatory insects eat large numbers of other insects. These predaceous insects can feed on other insects when they are larvae, adults or both. Common predators that we see often in the garden are lady beetles (we call them lady bugs), praying mantids, spiders and centipedes.

Parasitoids are insects that live on or in a host insect. They feed on the host and usually kill it in the process. Most are stingless wasps or flies that lay their eggs in a specific host. The eggs then hatch and feed on the host. This is a process that is difficult to see, but research shows that parasitoids contribute to the control of pests.

Why do house-flies stick to people?

Flies feed on dead or decaying organic matter, and human skin is constantly shedding, whether you notice it or not. Flies eat the dead skin cells and whatever organic matter (including sweat) has accumulated on it. There's no such thing as a thoroughly clean human being, so there's much to eat.
