they are all different and you don't say what kind yours is. Basically, you shut the water off, take it apart and change the seals or control ball. Best way to ID the part is take the internal parts to a plumbing store and ask them for a kit or seals for it.

To adopt a baby you must meet the requirements below:

Be married

Have 2 mood buffs

Have a cot in the house (200 simoleons)

Then make sure it is night time at about 0:00 then click the phone and you will see the button Adopt Baby and click it.

If you do not have 2 mood buffs or do not have a cot in the house then a notice will appear on the screen either saying "Your sim is not in the mood to do this right now" or "You must have a cot in the house to adopt a baby"

Then wait about 1 day and somewhere in the day a notice will suddenly appear and say "The baby has arrived!"

They social services come round a few minutes (our time) after you make the call and they give you a choice of male or female and baby toddler or child it is pretty easy and you can adopt as many as you like in one day!!! =)
