I just purchased a very clean 44DL with Tasco 3-9 rimfire scope and sling for $200. The 44DL is a Marlin Model 57. In Central PA where I reside, guns seem to sell for more than the so called "blue book" prices and .22 rimfires are notorious for selling above 'book' value. At flea markets and garage sales, .22's go like hotcakes! If you find one that looks nice and is reasonably priced, better buy it because it probably won't be there if you take time to walk around and think about it.

The Numbers 126.19321 indicate that the gun was made by Crosman airguns for Sears under the JC Higgins brand name. Unfortunately I can not tell you what model it is.

You could try contacting Crosman Customer service and see if they can identify it for you. Crosman also offer a service on their home page to locate repair shops that repair older Crosman air rifles. (See the link below.) They also have most all of their original "Owners manuals" Online at the same link.

Yes, some have sold recently for $20-$25 per box on various auction sites. The shells date from 1967 to about 1975 and were sold by TruValue hardware stores. The shells were loaded by C.I.L. in Canada.

1960's, Winchester 70 (Sears model 53) of the Ted Williams promotion series 30-06 for Sears. NOTE: Every one on the net incorrectly identify 273-1830 as serial number, but actually is a "lot number" that identifies this series as T.W., and that the actual serial number is hand scribed on the bolt and stamped on the right side of the barrel, at the larger ring portion, at the bullet base, such as; 106xx, early model. The Ted Williams version was made with better and darker wood with excellent finish, compared to the other pale woods. Exact type of woods, I can not recollect as to what they are.

The JC Higgins bolt action shotgun had many "models" they just changed the last digits: 583.xx. This shotgun was actually sold back in the 1950's by Sears. The Sears company itself actually made the shotgun and then sold it in its stores. The name of the company was Sears Roebuck, but Sears actually bought out a company called High Standard Fire Arms to manufacture the gun.

In the 1980's and 1990's there was a recall of the shotgun because the bolt on the gun was deemed dangerous because the screw that held the bolt in place became loose after discharge and could eject itself at the person pulling the trigger.

From what I've seen on most auction sites, this shotgun in prestine condition has sold for upto $ 150, and in good or normal wear and tear condition it has sold for as little as $20-40 .

The .54 designates that as 1948. Found that on some other shotgun forums. I have one too. It was made by Hi Standard, for Sears.

If I am right the pistol was made by By Crosman for Sears under the JC Higgins name. It's a Crosman model 600. 22 Cal C02 pistol. Made between 1960 and 1970. Value is determined by the current condition. Without more information about the working and current condition it is not possible to set a value.

Quite possible (make that probable) that is has none, and never had one. Serial numbers were not required by law on rifles and shotguns until the 1968 Gun Control Act. Most lower cost shotguns, .22 rifles, etc, did not have serial numbers. While it IS perfectly legal to possess a gun that never had one, it IS a serious violation of Federal law to REMOVE one that is there. I collect older Mossberg .22 rifles from the 30s-40s-50s, and only one out of a dozen has a serial number.

My Glenfield Model 25 has a micro-groove barrel,so I imagine others do as well.

Slide the forearm back and look under the weapon for a hole just under the forearm. Use an allen wrench to remove the screw and the gun will come apart.

Savage Arms

Quite simple. You can do it with the barrel fixed to the stock, or removed. If you have a scope mounted, it may get in the way. The trigger assembly also acts as the method of holding the bolt in. Open your bolt with the trigger depressed a bit further than you would to fire a round. With a little love and some slight wiggles, the bolt should slide out no problem.

Remove the forend, then the barrel. The serial number will be on the underneith side of the bottom barrel at the point where it hinges with the rear stock. You may need a magnifying glass.

The Western Field 20 gauge referred to in the question is probably a Mossberg 385K. Most of the store brands were actually manufactured for chain stores by other companies. The original 385K was made from 1965 to 1968. The model 358K-A had a small change to the barrel and was made from 1968 to 1983, but I think that one was sold under a different store-brand name. There was also a later model, the 358K-B that had a cross bolt, but I'm not sure of the manufacturing years on that one and like the 358K-A probably was not sold as the "Western Field 20 gauge".

because of flause to the gun they had issued a recall on the gun offering $150 cash back from sears in the late 1990's then they stopped giving $ and gave store credit of $100 during these times people were buying the guns when ever and were ever they could for $75 or less from people who did not know about the recall. now you get nothing for it no one will buy it who really knows anything about it. I own one and keep it just for the fact of its name
