2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee jeep has air blower but no heat?

This is a common problem- the heater blend doors. These are motorized doors about the size of an index card that control whether hot or cold air comes from the vents. There may be two independent doors or both doors may operate together depending on whether you have dual zone temperature controls. They are located in the heating/air conditioning module, a long black plastic apparatus about the size of a golf bag that contains the heater core, the air conditioning evaporator, the blower motor, the blend doors, and all the other parts to make hot or cold air and direct it to the needed location. Replacing the blend doors is a job for the experienced home mechanic. The proper job requires you remove the steering column and entire dashboard, drain both the coolant and air conditioning refrigerant, and remove large, heavy pieces from the car. A detailed explanation is located at wjjeeps dot com. I did the job myself and saved a bunch of money. You can too! Good luck!

Where is the starter on a 2000 Jeep Laredo?

On my L6 4.0 it's right below the oil filter. It's clearly visible from the top and underneath. If you have another engine just follow the wire from the negative (black) battery post. It will end up there eventually!

What is the best oil to use for a 2000 jeep grand Cherokee that does a lot of towing?

Personally I have had good luck using Rotella Synthetic 5w40 in my fiance's 4.0L Grand Cherokee. I don't do any towing, but I have yet to use a drop of oil in 5000 miles. This is on an engine with 100,000 miles and we purchased at ~83,000 miles. 5w40 may not be needed, but these engines (4.0L) do like a thicker oil. 10w30 is the recommended weight down to 0*F (for the 4.0L) and any 10w30 (regular or synthetic) will work well. Today's oils are extremely advanced and will protect well.

Your Jeep Grand Cherokee has 55000 miles on it should you change the Transmission fluid and due a full flush or just change the fluid?

It is safe to get a professional's opinion. However, if you are having problems with changing gears or sometimes the transmission skips, then by all means get it serviced. Also, you need to check the fluid, if the color is dark and has an odor, then it is time for servicing. Hope all goes well.

Is the 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee with quadratic a full time 4 wheel drive vehicle?

Full Time 4X4 ?Yes. The owners manual should tell you this. There is no way to place the Jeep in two wheel drive. Quadratrac is not regarded as the 4X4 system of choice for a true offroader but my 95 GC Limited has it as well and does fine in most circumstances...and has been trouble free for me for 12 years and 165000 miles. Of course this is my daily driver and not my trail rider / rock crawler.

I have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 6-cylinder How do I identify number 1 in the distributor cap and the number 1 cylinder Please show you the diagram to replace the wires Thanks?

On any "V" designed engine if you look at the front of the engine from above looking down towards the front of the valve covers....... the valve cover that sticks out further towards the front is the odd firing cylinder bank(#1,#3 #5 #7 etc) get it???? the other side is the even firing bank (#2,#$4,#6,#8) follow the wires back to the cap from # 1 and walla there you go... providing someone didnt get there hands in there and screw everything up!!on a v/8 Chevy the order is 18436572 clockwise not everty engine is the same with firing orders and some are counter clockwise(click the strtyer and watch the rotor turn with the cap off, either to the right(clockwise...or left counter clockwise) get it??? Have fun go to the library or buy a repair manual on this stuff.

Determine which cylinder is # 1 pull that spark plug out, than bump engine over until piston comes up,( air comes out plug hole),the rotor will be pointing at the # 1 distributer position. On my 92 the firing order is 153624 clockwise. Plugs are numbered from front to back. firing order is located on intake manifold.

Does a 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4.0L I6 need premium gas?

As long as it doesn't "ping" excessively you will be fine I don't have a Grand Cherokee myself, but if its the standard 4.0 inline 6 that chysler has been building for decades, then it sounds strange that yours would need premium. Most jeeps will run just fine off good old 87 octane. Be careful thought, look in your owners manual, and see what that says. If it recommends premium, don't chisce out at the pumps. I know premium is a good $.20 more per gallon, but if you burn a lower octane, you can cause yourself a lot of headaches with mechanical problems in the future. ( maybe not right away, but in the long run you'll shorten the life span and certainly the power output of your engine) Do some reaserch, call a dealer if necessary, but make sure before you start burning low grade fuel. Good luck. (oh by the way, if your engine has been modified for higher output, then yes, its a very good idea to run a higher grade fuel) For an 4.0L I-6, the answer is NO. NO
