Normally 6 quarts with filter change. But to be sure, Park on level surface, drain the oil and change the filter. Put in 5 quarts, start the engine, run for 2 minutes, shut down, wait 30 minutes, and check the oil level. Add as necessary. Do not overfill!

P0300 Diagnostic Code - Random Misfire
P0306-0305 are for misfire in those numbered cylinders specifically.

The Fix
Best first action is a tune up, new plugs, wires, inspect all hoses and wire connections then reset the code. If it returns you will need to narrow it down to a system, coils and coil packs should be tested, catalytic converters for function ( do you smell rotten eggs?). A misfire that jumps cylinders could indicate a lean condition, do you have any other codes along with the 300? this will help clue you in to the source, check valve function to make sure they are opening and closing fully.
This is probably pone of the most difficult codes to troubleshoot, so start with the basics and work your way into the more expensive options, in many cases a good old tune up solves the problem, back it up with a fuel system cleaning and see where you stand.

For the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, you'll need a 1/2" socket wrench. The longer the wrench the better, i.e. a long breaker bar. The spring retention arm has a square hole for the 1/2" socket to be placed. Once placed, you can adjust tension for serpentine belt removal or application. Follow the belt route guide on the "little sticker" near the belt under the hood. If you don't have a 1/2" socket wrench, I'm pretty sure you can rent the necessary tool at Autozone for free (deposit returned when tool returned). This method works for many different vehicles, makes, and models.

the wiring and ignition differences will make this unlikely. 89-95 are the most compatible for a 93. i think 96-98 for a 97. just look for engines online and see what years fit together to know for sure what you can get away with.

My 76' weighs about 4200lbs with a full tank of gas, hard top, 3 people, a spare tire, a heavy winch, and a lot of camping equipment going over a trucker scale.

Lowest weight I've ever seen in mine was 3200lbs with no top, no persons in the vehicle, and pretty much empty tank.

Mind you, I have the Inline 6. If you have AMC/Chevy swapped V8, it's going to be nearly the same. The I-4 is probably about 100lbs lighter, but that's a guess. The hard top doesn't weigh much either, or at least mine doesn't. Maybe 100lbs max. If you have an automatic, add about 100 pounds.

If you own the CJ-7, best bet is to find a trucker scale that's closed and just do a quick weight measurment. A lot of factors change the weight, (Engine, transmission, transfercase, tire sizes, aftermarket addons, AC, etc.) and it's hard to guess

The only problems with the CJ-7 in my opinion is the factory emissions crap on the 4.2 (258) and the two piece axles on the model 20 rear end, unless you are lucky enough to have the 86' with a Dana 44. Get some forged 1 piece axles in the rear and get rid of the stock carb and emissions stuff and youll love it.

About 110 horses @ 3500 RPMS. Good engine; I've had several myself. While it does lack a lot of horsepower, it has lots of low end torque, (About 200 ft*lbs at only 2000 RPMS) making it ideal for off roading. Jeeps have the distinct honor of probably having the most engine options thatn any other vehicle. Maybe because Jeep owners in general like to fiddle around. So the 4.0 should swap easily in place of the 4.2 relative to other swap options. So while it is not totally direct- I am assuming you want to replace the 4.2 with the 4.0. There will be some conversions depending on what year & transmission in your current one. The computer will need to stay with the engine so if you get a 4.0, get the computer & wiring harness also. Then the bell housings may be different but they may be the same so check that. Then the clutch may or may not be the same. Different year Jeeps have different transmissions & Xfer cases so all that neds to match. The engines I believe are the same in length so that is a good thing. Go look at Jeep blogs & I am sure you will find some blogs from people who have done it & give you a better idea what obsticles you may encounter.
