Very simple to drive. Start the engine with the key, leave the throttle at low speed and hold the choke all the way up until it starts then let go and let it idol a few minutes before you increase the throttle, no gear to select just press down on the forward or reverse pedal. To set cutting deck height push left pedal all the way in, select deck height on floor between feet and release pedal then lift up on mower engage lever on right of steering wheel. If you need to mow in reverse just lift up on the mower engage lever (it only moves a tiny bit) and press reverse pedal then you can release the lever. When you are finished make sure you slow the engine to idol for a few seconds before turning off the key to prevent damage.

I would think you arereferring to the drive belt. First thing to do is remove the mowing deck. From there you will find a spring lever that holds the belt tight. You will need to take a bar or wrench and release the tension on the belt and take the belt off of that pulley. Then from there it is a matter of loosening the pulley next to the frame and snaking the belt from around all the other pulleys in order to get it off. To install just do everything in reverse. In order to gain access to every thing it is best to stand the mower up on the rear wheels, you will need someone to hold the tractor in this position while you remove and install the drive belt. Just recently done this and the job is not really to hard. Just take your time as to not remove unnecessary components. You will have to loosen some of the pulleys but none have to be removed as I remember.
