Karl Marx

William Graham Sumner was a key figure in the development of sociology in the United States. He is known for his work on social Darwinism, which applied principles of evolutionary biology to society, as well as his emphasis on the concept of folkways and mores in shaping individual behavior. Sumner's ideas continue to influence sociological thought on the intersections of culture, norms, and social structure.

The theory of alienation, which refers to the separation of individuals from the products of their labor and from their true essence as human beings, was particularly influential on Modernist writers. This concept resonated with their exploration of individual consciousness, fragmentation, and dislocation in the rapidly changing modern world.

A society without any social classes is best for all.

Marx and Engels blamed the horrible working conditions in factories on capitalism and the pursuit of profit by factory owners. They argued that the exploitation of labor through long hours, low wages, and unsafe working conditions was inherent in the capitalist system.

The first step was to have an agricutural revolution. This was where a country could gain food and a stable economy. Second there needed to be a industrial revolution. This was the factory and mechanical part that lead to a capitalist society. (Like America) Next, there needed to be a bloody revolution, in which the coomon people would rise up and take control of their oppressors. After that, there would be a socialist government with some government control. Finally the govenment would fade because it was not needed and become a communist society.

The neo-conflict theory is a theory that is based on the writing of Karl Marx. It is the idea that conflict in society is based on the product of an exploitive relationship between the social classes of society.

The title of the book is "The Communist Manifesto." It was written by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, and it outlines their theories on class struggle and the need for a proletarian revolution to overthrow capitalism.

According to Marx, all of history is a record of class struggle.

A form of socialism that focuses on ending class struggle is known as communism. This type of society promotes equality for all the people in society and equal distribution of wealth and resources.

Karl Marx never moved to the US. He spent most of his life in Europe, particularly in Germany and England.

The Communist Manifesto .

Marx's major life's work is "Das Kapital", or "Capital" in English. This work is a huge two volume tome where Marx set forth all of his theories on the workings of a society's economy. The Communist Manifesto was a pamphlet and wasn't even written by him alone. Friedrich Engels co-wrote it.

According to Marx, government was not an entity through which change could be brought about. Rather, for change to happen and for the class struggles to be resolved it was necessary for the people to rise up and bring about the necessary adjustments to society.

Friedrich Engels and Vladimir Lenin are two speakers who represent Karl Marx's ideas of Communism. Engels was Marx's collaborator and co-author of "The Communist Manifesto," while Lenin implemented Marxist ideas in the Russian Revolution and established the first communist state in the world.

They were German revolutionary philosophers who co-wrote 'The Communist Manifesto' as well as several other pieces regarding the evils of capitalism, its inevitable destruction and the evolution of the world's economic system first to socialism then to communism. They blamed poverty and starvation on the evils of capitalist society.
Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels wrote extensively on trade unions and the conditions of the working people. Their ideas promoted the idea that people get back what they give. This idea started the Marxian concept of social standards. Later, economists would take these ideas and develop socialism as we know it today.

The Communist Manifesto was a response to the injustices of the Romanovs. They had been monarchs of Russia for many decades and did not care about the welfare of the common people. This led to the downfall of the Romanovs and the rise of communism.

Just because a government claims itself communist does not make it communist. North Korea is not a communist government the way Karl Marx envisioned it to be. North Korea, much like "communist" Russia and China, is a totalitarian dictatorship.

There are a few key components that would make a country Communist, and North Korea (as well as the USSR) failed to fulfill these conditions.

1. There must be a capitalist society existing before the Communist revolution.

2. The capitalist society must birth two classes: the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. The proletariat consists of the poor working class and the bourgeoisie consists of wealthy business owners.

3. The proletariat must undergo terrible working conditions, and must then revolt against the oppressive bourgeoisie that instigated such conditions.

4. The proletariat then establish a government that represents the demands of the working class and is essentially leaderless.

North Korea did not have a class struggle described above, it was simply turned communist by communist political activists after WWII.

Karl Marx and Adam Smith had different views on capitalism. Marx criticized Smith's ideas for promoting inequality, exploitation, and class struggle. Marx believed in the abolition of private ownership of property and the means of production, while Smith advocated for free markets and individual self-interest.

He described religion as the opium of the people, an illusion designed to make them accept the status quo.

Strictly speaking, Marx did not predict any revolution, at least according to the interpretation of his theories. Marx predicted a workers' revolution in the heavily industrialized nations like Germany and England, where the upper class was most oppressive of the lower class. The more industrialized countries were the most capitalistic and this capitalism had such internal flaws that it would destroy itself. At some point the working class would become so large and so downtrodden that it would rise up against the upper class. In Russia, where the first "communist" revolution occurred, the economy was primarily agrarian, rather than industrial. Therefore, Russia was never in Marx's sights as a potential true communist revolution. The Russian Revolution was a political revolution as opposed to a true Marxian economic revolution.

Friedrich Engels was Karl Marx's partner in writing The Communist Manifesto in 1848. Engels contributed his own ideas and expertise to the document, making it a collaborative effort between the two thinkers.
