Kim Jong-il died of natural causes on December 17, 2011.
i am doing a report on him and we have to have postives in there, but the only thing that i can find that isn't bad is that he isn't crazy, he just has a scewed vew of the world because he hardly ever leaves his country. sry i couldn't help.
He was thought to be 5'5", but he was always seen wearing platform shoes. Some analysts believed he was anywhere between 5'1"-5'3".
Even though he was considered a tyrant by most of the world, he was not an idiot. He ran one of the most repressive governments in the world, but he managed to do it while his own people worshipped him, literally. He was educated in several schools, and was active in politics from a very young age. He is also said to have written several operas.
Kim Jong Il met Kim Ok in the 1980's.
From the mid 1980s ill 2011, she served as his private secretery.
They both started dating after the death of his second mistress, Ko Young-Hee.
They were dating since 2004 till his death in 2011.
There were many problems with his goal, but the people of the country respect him because they were taught that he united(protected) the country from the "evil" American rule. The only good thing that he did was probably uniting North Korea. Overall, he was a bad leader but was respected for maintaining the country and not letting it go into another civil war. Kim also developed good diplomatic relations with other communist countries, so the people in South Korea feel more secure. His encouragement to build a nuclear bomb succeeded, so people felt even more secure. No matter how poor, if the people of that country feel safe, they will still feel satisfied. They think that money only brings temporary prosperity and spoiled children, while safety brings peace for future generations.
P.S. when I say "evil" American rule. I'm referring to the fact that North Koreans feel hatred towards the UN (mostly Americans fought in the Korean War) because it forced them to stay above the 38th Parallel. North Korea could have been two times bigger if it were not for the UN (it's quite crowded in that small country).
Nevertheless, the UN had to defend the democratic part of Korea because North and East Asia would all be communist; a real treat. Basically, North Koreans just think that Kim is "protecting" the common wealth's privacy. North Koreans think that they would be bossed around (like that would happen) by America if it weren't for Kim.
P.P.S. another reason for the mourning might have been that they felt that Kim's son was unable to fulfill his father's duty.
P.P.P.S. Personally, people saying that the people of the country were brainwashed or forced to cry is absurd. It's impossible to brainwash an entire population. It's most probable that the citizens were only taught Kim's accomplishments, not failures. The crying might have been indirect, but there must have been emotion behind it. The videos all show a strong emotion that can't even be portrayed by the best actors in the world. (I'm still a patriot)
(I'm too lazy to edit, since I made so many post scripts. Hope this helps :)
The people in North Korea love Kim Jong IL. They worship him everyday. Of course they have to because they are taught from birth to worship their Great Leader, Kim Jong IL. Kim Jong IL is a very powerful man and whoever does not bow down to Kim Jong IL will be sent to a prison camp. Most people are lucky to get out of there.
It was reported that on the day of his death, North Korean citizens were crying in the streets.
