The Hmong settled almost everywhere in the US. But the 3 states that contains the most Hmong are: California, Minnesota, and Wisconsin.

During the Vietnam War, the president at the time had asked Hmong people to help ambush a Viet Supply Line. He promised us that he would help rebuild our great civilization. General Vang Pao had took the offer and entered us in war. The Americans had supplied us weapons and we took the offensive. After the war was over, the vietnamese were mad at the Hmong for betraying the Laotion Gov. We were at war and the president didn't keep his end of the deal. He left the Hmong to fend for themselves with little protection. We were forced to hide in the jungles and flee to Thailand. Only a few Hmong had escaped to America thanks to General Vang Pao. My parents were some of the few that fled to America. So today, we still fight and live in fear. This is the Hmong people...

The Hmong people themselves say that they originally came from a cold northern homeland; this was probably the Huang He valley of northern China. Before that, they may have migrated from the Amur river valley in the far north in a wave of Austric invasion. They existed on the Huang He as a great and numerous people called the Dongyi by the ancients. But the Huaxia people came from Yunnan in the southwest and conquered the Dongyi kingdom; the combination of the Huaxia and the Dongyi became the nucleus of the Chinese people, while some Dongyi started an independent kingdom in Shandong. When the Chinese conquered this kingdom, many Dongyi fled across the sea and helped start the Korean and Japanese kingdoms. But the Dongyi who fled to the far south when the Huaxia first arrived became the Hmong people and their relatives.

WHY?! I MEAN, I KNEW MANY COUNTRIES WERE LANDLOCKED, BUT LAOS?! THATS WHERE MY FAMILY ORIGINALLY CAME FROM (i was actually born in u.s) AND I JUST FOUND OUT LAOS IS LANDLOCKED?! :( why is laos a landlocked country?
