There is no industry standard for the term "Stone leather". The term is most often used to represent a color (stone, leather) as opposed to a texture, weight, grade or type of leather.

Pig leather is often much softer than leather from other animals but it is now being used in furniture production. With the naked eye the leather may not be distinguishable from any other leather if a top coating has been applied but with a microscope the arrangement of the hair follicles is very distinctive and so can be recognised.

Leather is the tanned hide or skin of any animal. It cannot be produced from vegetables as this would not be leather.

Cow skin and cow hide are the same thing - the hair-covered skin of a bovid.

The process to turn cow hides into leather is relatively simple, although the work is labor-intensive and the chemicals are dangerous if you don't have adequate safeguards and care.

Once the hide is removed from the carcass of a cow, it is transported to a tannery. Any remaining muscle, fat and connective tissue on the "inside" of the hide is scraped off. The hide is then placed into a vat of chemicals that dissolve and remove the last of the "inside" tissue as well as the hair. (Warning: these chemicals will also remove the skin from humans who are not careful to avoid contact, and the fumes are also pretty toxic.).

Once the hair has been dissolved, the hide is scraped again to get the rest of the hair off. The hide is then tanned with a series of chemicals (see above warning) and then allowed to dry. Once dry, the leather is then beaten and stretched to make it supple, then is sent off for further processing. This may include tooling, shaping and dyeing, and ends with products such as car seat covers, belts, handbags, shoes, baseballs and other leather-based goods.

This is a tough one. You can get the urine out of the cloth, but usually it seeps down inside the batting and foam. The best thing to do is get a carpet cleaner to come in and have them do some deep cleaning on your furniture. After it's dry use "Febreeze" spray to get any odors out. I own pets and even though my dogs and cat are very clean, I put blankets on my furniture and take them off when company comes. You can try something called ProKlean you can find it on the web, you may wanna try that instead of throwing away a leather jacket I have an old leather coat and it stank! I put it in the washer. I put it on a wool wash, ran it through 4 cycles and it came out immaculate and no smell. I dried it slowly and it's as good as new. I wasn't going to be able to wear it anyway, so I had nothing to lose!
