my best bet would be either a Gary hurst mk 1 modified by roger mayer or a Gary hurst mk2...again, modified by roger mayer...

regarding the mk 1, i doubt that very much was done to it...however, i have been able to replicate the "you shook me" fuzz (including that crackling 6 string bass note) by changing all transistors to silicon, modifiying the input bias network and installing a diode to change the input characteristics...this would have been a diode that would be switched in and out to requirement...

clearly, there are overlapping parts to the song where either two fuzz boxes were used, or some kind of gating effect was brought into use as a means of controlling noise...during separate overdub sessions...

the amplifier referred to as being used by page was a supro, yes, but not the one as stated...i have maintained this position for years...

add in the mysterious eq technique (aka "Q mapping") and with a couple of hours of experimentation, one could come extremely close to the "you shook me" sound...additionally, some of the adsr circuits could add overtone harmonics and a slight buzzing effect during decay of the guitar note...

Led Zeppelin never appeared on Top of the Pops, even though "Whole Lotta Love" was used as the theme song for many years. The simple reason for this was that their astute manager Peter Grant took the decision that, as a serious rock band, they should not deign to release any singles (very much a "pop" format) in the UK, only albums, so they never featured in the UK hit parade during their heyday. The decision seemed to do their career no harm.

A Zeppelin, or rigid airship works by using a large volume of gas that is lighter than air to help lift it off the ground. Just like a helium party balloon, Zeppelins were filled with hydrogen or helium and this would compensate for almost all of their weight. Zeppelins could lift many tons at a time when airplanes could barely lift themselves. Zeppelins formed the first airline (DELAG) in Germany and transported thousands of people.

Zeppelins were different than blimps. They had rigid metal or wood frames inside that allowed large engines and passenger compartments to be outfitted. They didn't just have a tiny gondola underneath,m but had a great deal of living space inside the actual cigar shape.

Zeppelins worked very well, and were considered very reliable. The problem was that the best airships (Zeppelins) were made in pre-WW2 Germany. They were filled with hydrogen, which is very flammable. Germany wanted to use helium (non-flammable), but the USA has a virtual monopoly on Helium production at that time, and it was considered a precious commodity that might be misused by Hitler in the event of a war. The eruption of the Hindenburg in Lakehurst New Jersey spelled the end for Zeppelins. People thought they were dangerous. In reality, had helium been used instead of hydrogen, we might still be using them today.

I don't think they were metal; to me they sound more like heavy blues rock. But aside from that, Black Sabbath formed earlier, and in contrast, were and are definitely metal. In fact, Judas Priest (whom no-one bar Gerard Way will say are not a metal band) formed the same year as Zeppelin.

yes he did use drugs when he was younger. he did l.s.d, cocaine, heroin,and other drugs according to some interviews. Robert did stop using drugs in the late 80's and he is suppose to be drug free now.
