For the 1990-1994 Lexus LS 400. The air filter is on the passenger side right behind the passenger head under the hood. To access it you must use have a socket wrench and a 10 mm socket.
1. Go to the driver side under the hood near the battery. In front of the battery there a then cover that you must lift up. Once you have lifted this cover, there is a silver screw that is holding the air cover directly over the radiator. Remove the cover and then loosen the screw to take the center air cover off from over the radiator.
2. While working your way to the right, you will notice there is another cover on the passenger side. Remove this cover and you will then see the air filter. The air filter is big round and has a latch. The only way that you can access the air filter is by removing the 3 screws that hold stable to the air induction which is connected to the throttle plate.
3. Remove these screws with the same 10 mm socket and also loosen the lowest clamp on the air induction so you can take just the air filter housing out. You may have to move back and forth to wiggle out.
4. Once you have wiggled out the air filter housing, you can unlatch the air filter and then replace.
5. Then reverse the instructions to reinstall.
Bring the maintenance schedule program onto the information display. Hold the scroll button in until the maintenance schedule is cleared. The maintenance light should go off.
You probably have a bad coil. You have 2 of them, I would start with the primary.

KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM
With the keyless entry keypad, you can:
• lock or unlock the vehicle doors
without using the key.
Your vehicle has a factory set 5 digit
code that operates the keyless entry
system. You can also program your
own 5 digit personal entry code. The factory-set code is located:
• on the owner's wallet card in the glove compartment
• or at your dealer.
When pressing the controls on the keyless entry keypad, press the
middle of the controls to ensure a good activation.
This system will disable the power door lock controls. These will not
work until the vehicle is disarmed.
Programming your own personal entry code
To program your own code:
5. Enter factory set code (keypad will illuminate when pressed).
6. Press 1/2 control within five seconds of step 1.
7. Enter your personal 5 digit code.
Enter each digit within five seconds
of previous one.
8. After the code is entered, the
locks will cycle, confirming that the
new code has been set.
Do not set a code that includes five of the same number or presents
them in sequential order. Thieves can easily figure out these types of
codes.
Your personal code does not replace the permanent code that the
dealership gave you. You can use either code to unlock your vehicle. If a
second personal code is entered, the module will erase the first personal
code in favor of the new code.

Parts and labor for timing belt, water pump, #1 and # 2 timing belt idler pulleys should be around $900.00 www.lextechautomotivellc.com
It is actually to "improve" the shifts of the automatic transmission. I can tell a difference when I do this but it does use more gas and I don't like that. It is not really a sporty car so I have a sports car to drive if I want firmer shifts.
Yes there are fault code for the nav system but they are very hard to deciefer. www.lextechautomotivellc.com
More than likely, its probably the oxygen sensor. The best way to determine why the light is on is to read the diagnostic code. There is a procedure to get the engine "Check" light to flash the diagnostic code; or you could take it to a dealer for them to read the code.
By the way, the oxygen sensors should be replace every 70,000 miles.
That light is telling you that your brakes are near worn and to have them serviced.
that light is for the water, add some more water in your contenner that light sould turn it off I have found that there is a very fine line between too full which causes an overflow from the coolant reserviour, and too low which turns on the light. An annoying feature on the LS. vbdenny
The nav ECU is located in the passenger side of the trunk located under a false partition, remove 2 black Phillips screws and tilt unit up push eject button and old disc comes out and insert new disc close lid and system will update itself. Note do this with the key in the on position

General rule of thumb is that if you look st it you will see the internal element is broken. On some fuses they can develop a crack and not allow current to flow but they look goo. In this instance you need to use a meter to check it.
Yes 22 rims do fit the Ls 400 so you guys can go an bling. O i know cause i did it no bull the rides still good
Do you perhaps mean "VSC"?
If so, that stands for Vehicle Stability Control...
In my Lexus Owner's Manual it is Vehicle Skid Control... probably interchangeable words but 'skid' is a little more definitive for me.
A periodic problem on this vehicle is failure of the Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor. The cost to repair the A/C Compressor is estimated at $781.00 for parts and $143.00 for labor. This vehicle was originally charged with R-12 refrigerant which is no longer being manufactured. The refrigerant is still available, but it is very expensive ($25.00-$50.00 per pound, 2-5 pounds per vehicle). Conversion to the new R-134A refrigerant is possible, at an average cost of about $200-$300 parts and labor. All prices are estimates based on $65 per flat rate hour and do not include diagnostic time or any applicable sales tax.
My mom has a 2000 Honda Accord Lx and had the same problem. It ended up being a faulty gas cap.
You have to remove the black plastic cover that is in the center of the valve cover. 4 bolts the two you see and if you look at the black box part at the front of the valve cover you will see the other two bolts. Take all 4 bolts out, remove the black plastic cover and you will see the spark plug wires. Buying a used vehicle is always a gamble. When purchasing a used vehicle it is best to have some kind of repair knowledge. If you don't then it is best to take the vehicle to an independent party to have it examined and ensure reliability.
I am not sure when this change occurs in your car but if the mirror control switch is not set to the center position, both mirrors are programmed to dip when the transmission is put into reverse to assist in backing up visibility( at least on the 2001 model).
