We know that if it is perpendicular to the line 2x-3y-6=0 or better yet, the line y=(2/3)x-2 (I just rearranged the equation from its standard form), the m-value (slope) of the new line must become inverted (3/2) and negative (-3/2). When you invert the m-value and change it's sign, you are finding the perpendicular value to the original.
So for our new equation we have y=(-3/2)x-2
We're not done yet! This new line does not go through the specified point (-2,-3).
To find the vertical shift (which will allow the line to pass through (-2,-3)) we will sub this point (-2,-3) into the new equation we found, but we will omit the shift value and replace it with a variable "b".
Now we have:
(-3)=(-3/2)(-2)+b
(-3)=(3)+b
b=(-6)
Finally, we can put together our equation.
y=(-3/2)x-6 - or in standard form: 3x+2y+6=0
-3x*4y=7 would be linear. That equation can be turned into a slope-intercept form if simplified without any exponents nor absolute values.
What is 9x plus 5 equals 5x plus 17?
9x + 5 = 5x + 17
9x + 5 - 5x = 17
9x - 5x = 4x
5-4x=17
17-5=12
12 divided by 4 = 3
x=3
What are simultaneous equation in maths?
Simultaneous equations are where you have multiple equations, often coupled with multiple variables. An example would be x+y=2, x-y=2. To solve for x and y, both equations would have to be used simultaneously.
Whats the difference between a linear equation and a system of linear equations?
Quite simply, the latter is a group of the former.
A system of linear equations is several linear equations taken together, each using the same group of unknowns. Usually, such a system provides one linear equation for each unknown (x, y, z, et al) that must be found (more complex systems can exist, though). You can use and manipulate these linear equations as you would a single linear equation to help solve for the unknowns. One way is to reduce all but one of the unknowns so that each can be expressed in terms of the remaining unknown and then solve for the remaining unknown which would in turn give you the others.
What do you call somebody spends 20 years in the 24th row of a theater?
You call somebody who spends 20 years in the 24th row of a theater someone living in "x" aisle.
Why an open sentence always has at least one variable?
An open sentence is neither true nor false. It depends on the value of the variable. If you had 5=3 that would be a closed sentence which is false. If you had 5=5 that would be a closed sentence which is true. If you had x=3 then it is open to whether the x is a 5 or a 3.
What is the geometrical representation of a linear equation?
A line, "living" in N-dimensional space, where N is the number of variables.
How it can be expressed in the form of ax plus by plus c equals 0?
The answer depends on "it" being the equation of a straight line and your starting point for "it".
The equation of a straight line can be written as y = mx + c where m is the slope or gradient of the line and c is the intercept.
Simple rearrangement of the terms gives:
mx - y c = 0
and that is in the required form with m = a, -1 = b and c = c.
What is the fundamental unit of mass in the metric system?
The fundamental unit is the gram. However the standard unit (SI) used is the kilogram (1000 grams).
AnswerThe terms 'fundamental unit' or 'standard unit' are not used in SI. The correct term is 'base unit', and the base unit for mass is the kilogram.
What is the y-intercept of 3x-7y-8?
We need more information. This is an equation, we need an equality to solve this.
slope-intercept from is y=mx+b, m is the slope and b is the y-intercept.
put the values of the slope and y-intercept into the equation.
y=2x-2
What is the geometrical meaning of cross product?
The cross product can be said to be a measure of the 'perpendicularity' of the vectors in the product.

I have one which I bought for $50.00 18 months ago. The price probably reflected the fact that there was a large crack in the forearm which I have since repaired. The blueing was 90% throughout. I've looked at hundreds of 22's and I would guess the value of a perfect Springfield Stevens Model-86 specimen to be around $150.00. NOTE: Check and see if this gun is marked "RANGER" on the barrel. If so, this means that your gun was marketed and sold through Sears Roebuck and was available through mail order. Can you imagine that - buying a rifle from a Sears catalogue. That's old America for you! Although this gun may not have much collector's value, it is actually my favorite 22, and the most accurate one I've ever shot. It is also one of the prettiest-looking rifles of its class I have ever seen. If you want to take a look at mine, it is featured on the homepage of http://www.leesportsmen.com . Incidentally, I can be reached at: johnphilp@dynamicdatasystems.org if you want to ask me any more questions about this wonderful gun. Sincerely, John Philp
Equations: 7x+4y = 9 and 2x+3y = 1
Multiply all terms in the 1st equation by 2 and all terms in the 2nd equation by 7
So: 14x+8y = 18 and 14x+21y = 7
Subtract the 1st equation from the 2nd equation: 13y = -11 => y = -11/13
By substituting y = -11/13 into any of the equations x = 23/13
Therefore the solutions are: x = 23/13 and y = -11/13
