There are professional memberships such as SAMS or NAMS that have listed members on their website. The last seminar I attended last year, a speaker there said he estimated there are approximately 2,800 professional marine surveyors worldwide. I have no factual proof I can present for this estimate however.

When it comes to the marine biome, climate doesn't really effect it much. It is warmer as you get closer to the equator and it is colder as you get closer to the poles. Even though the climate doesn't effect the marine biome, the marine effects the mainlands climate a lot. Its currents affect all the coastal areas. Another way the marine affects the coastal areas are the winds, depending upon the temperature of the water, the winds usually match that temperature.

Well, there are a lot of things you can do to save marine life. For starters, keep the ocean clean. Don't liter or trash it. There are crews of people and tons of organizations that help to keep the oceans clean. There are also many organizations you can join or donate money to in order to help marine life. Be gentle with marine life, it will last longer if we all come together and help it. :)
