Can you tow a popup with a Mazda 5?

i own a Mazda 5 also, and wonder the same question. i would like to tow a small boat. it says in the manual never tow with the Mazda 5. however in europien countries the Mazda 5 is rated to tow i think it was 2000 pound. ive done some web surfing and some people say they don't rate it to tow in the us because of liability reasons. look online and you can find 3 or 4 diffrent brand receiver hitches made for the Mazda 5. curt, reese, draw tight just to name a few. my small boat weighs 1400 pounds. if they tow with the same vehicle in Europe why cant we do it here. i think i am going to order the draw tight hitch along with the trailer wire harness and pull my little boat. its 1400 pounds. i don't think i would pull a whole lot more weight than that though.

If the rear diff is removed from a 4wd Mazda gtx will it still drive?

Nope, because the rear c.v's wont have anything to bolt on to.

The only way you could do it (possibly) is to remove the gears from the differential and leave the housing in place to keep the rear axles stable. The differential would still need to be oil filled, and if the gears turn out to be what holds the output axles in place, you're out of luck and this won't work either.
